I see some car batteries are not recommended for use in cars with stop/start technology.

If you do use one of these batteries in such a car, does it ruin the battery?

Reason for asking, there is a car battery for sale on eBay where the seller did just this but found out the hard way the battery is not suitable for this type of application and is, hence, selling it on.

The listing states the battery was purchased in October 2019.

Wondered if it was worth buying - wouldn't be able to try it in the car that needs it until I got home and the seller is about 20 miles from me so trying to avoid a wasted trip.

Cheers.

^^^^ Wot 'e said.

It will work just fine but obviously seems to be unsuitable for stop/start equipped cars.
