Lack of money was one reason , but late teens in the late 70s cars were fairly basic . Most of my mates had Fords of some description and weekends were spent working on one or others cars , good times .

Edit , sad times as just heard one of them passed away today , back then he had a lovely Mk1 Mexico in Ermine White with the custom pack interior . RIP Phil .

My first VX220 prompted it for me, just looking at it you could see that you could do most jobs. That, and realising that at 22 I'd massively over stretched myself to buy the car I always thought I'd never have the opportunity to own.
