Sorry if a silly question, is it possible to degas your air con at home or do you need to take it to a garage? I need to remove the gas to fit a new solenoid. Thanks

You should really take it somewhere to be evacuated safely by someone licensed to do so.

Many cars that have a head-on colliision dump their gas into the atmosphere and nobody attempts to catch it

Thanks for the replies. Phoned my local Kwik fit and to my surprise they said to bring it in and they will do it for free. Got to say although I wouldn't go near them for normal stuff whenever I've used them for air con regas the service has been good.
