I'm trying to decide what route to go, been looking at the possibility of making something along these lines rather than the £2k price tag that is attached.

it will mainly be for general underside maintenance/cleaning so plenty of room underneath.

or should i just go low/midrise scissor to give me the wheel off option but less underside access.

Mid-rise scissor seems to offer much more height, I don't know what the price of this Sealy one is, but you can get a decent mid-rise 1 phase scissor lift (no air needed) for under £2500 so that seems a more sensible choice perhaps.

I bought both my 2 post and 4 post used. You can get a decent brand for not a lot of money that way.

I think they've sadly had a price increase recently, but I've got a set of quickjacks that were half the price of that MR1, and I'm not sure the relative speed of using that some of the time would offset the inconvenience of not being able to do thinks like brakes, suspension, dropping a subframe etc. using that and thus needing to have an alternative solution anyway...

Unless all it's for is for cleaning underneath it, in which case a jackable pair of ramp does seem a pretty quick solution.

Mine's an SJR model by Garage Equipment Online. It's a short version.

Got the garage for it and wired for a lift, just not got around to buying a lift. Always seems to be something else the money needs spent on
.
Apologies for hijacking the thread: did you have this garage built and if so, what was the name of the company that you used? Finding it difficult to get sensible prices for a steel framed building. Thanks

My neighbour has one and it sweats really badly, I assume you need to consider some ventilation. - not sure who made his but the edges are really sharp. The ridge line cover is way too small so rain gets blown under it.

How would things like the Automotech stuff cope in a big car port? Not in direct weather, could could get damp wet from blown in rain etc.?
Think it would be fine. I have a scissor lift and it's pretty robust. I saw a bloke on a US forum who fitted connectors on the hydraulic line so you could disconnect control panel and move it out of the way (or in your situation, indoors or shed if lift not being used)
You could sink the lift into the ground, or put boards at the side and park on top of it.
My control unit is domestic 240v

I've got an Automotech mid rise that has been spot on for my needs. It needs a compressor for the hydraulic locks, but the compressor is as useful as the ramp to be fair.

Surplus to requirements now as I was only using it to lift a car up to get the nose of another under it, therefore turning a 2 car garage into a 3, but I've figured out another method now, so I'll be selling soon. I'd buy the same one again in future if I needed another.

Depending on location and price, I could be interested in that.

Just wondering, where did you buy these used? And did you get them professionally installed, and have them regularly maintained/serviced?

I know there are some FB groups and lots of stuff on eBay and the like for 2nd hand lifts, but we see so many issues and accidents and so the best advice is to get at least some professional input to ensure they are up to scratch and installed correctly (eg. is the floor deep enough to bolt to).
