Any help with this form the PH collective...?

Car is a Citroen DS5 (2012) i like the car it has sentimental value to me so I'm using it as a daily at the moment following my old man passing last year.

But...It has a very annoying & constant creak / squidge / patter / squeak noise coming from the drivers door card inside (seems to be about arm rest level) I have had the door card off and can kind of work out where the noise is coming from (leather armrest) so packed any flexible bits out on the back with rubber matting to help bolster it... didn't work.

When the door card is fitted nothing makes the noise stop when moving - applying pressure to the top or bottom, pulling on the door bin to adjust it... nothing

What is odd is that it is intermittent & on the few occasions it doesn't happen the outside temperature has been very low - this lead me to think is it the door seals and how the door is striking / pressing them? The door hasn't dropped and i have checked the hinges making sure all bolts are tight. I even went round the door seals with Gummi Pfledge - didn't work.

Appreciate that doors move around with the car against the seals as the car shell naturally flexes but as an example the noise is apparent at the slightest undulation, and happens when i turn left up on the driveway (weight being transferred to the right of the car)

I am 99% sure the noise if the door card and not any other trim pieces but its more what is causing it? especially when it doesn't do it in cold weather... and no other doors make any noise - its as if something doesn't fit correct when warmer...

Short of removing all the door seals or the whole door and refitting I'm unsure what to try - anyone with any similar experiences with any car?

Reading this back - what a minor problem it is, but hell is it annoying and really ruins driving my dads car!

Get some Krytox to lubricate the door seals. That is the best product, but you could try Gummi Pflege which is cheaper but will need re-applying every so often. I used that to lubricate the seals on my SLK55 folding roof

Thanks, tried the Gummi Fledge (we have an slk too and it works on the roof well) but doesn't seem to work for this for some reason. I will try Krytox tho

Often cables or linkages when the cheap plastic clips (holding them in place), perish, allowing them to move.
Cable ties often work or felt pads.
Or the plastic that clips solid door operating rods together.
Could also be the window glass adjustment.

I use talc on rubbing type creaks and it works well for a year or more on plastic (cars) and wood (stairs). My ds5 creaks like crazy opening the rear passenger door, as if the catch strap or hinge is loose but I've tightened everything and like you I've had the door card off the investigate and gave up. It was quiet when we got it new in 2013, I just put it down to wear and tear of 10years of kids wrecking it.

Thanks I will try that! Agreed could be wear & tear but the car has only done 75k - that said it is the drivers door and the most used. I even thought about buying a new door card to try fitting but after this week of trying different things i suspect it is the seals in some way so the problem would still be there!

Have you driven it without the door card fitted?

this, tbh if it annoyed me that much I would keep removing/loosening things.

With the door card off you may be able to place your hand on the door in places and perhaps pick up the sound through vibration.

Can you get it to make the noise if someone outside rocks the car? this could help you locate the sounds source, when you are on the move the road/white noise makes this very difficult?

Autoglym rubber care on the seals, worth a go.
Qualification - I had the misfortune to own a Saab in the past wink
