Rescue by the big lorry with flashing lights!

Nothing too serious, I trust?
Usual DAF issues, a flurry of warning lights and they couldn't clear them. With one being brake system failure they said I couldn't drive it home.

Probably a good call to be fair.

Adz,

Just out of interest....car transporter loading, are you given a 'load plan', or do you select which vehicles go on first?

If you are 'multi dropping', how do you manage a higher vehicle being last drop?

Morning mate.

I get given a list of cars to collect but up to me how I load it / what order.
Obviously try to work it so the journey makes sense and like you say any big stuff fits.
On this job we collect salvage so it's usually 1 or 2 collections and back to base, not much multidrop. But if you end up with something big on last collection that's just too awkward, leave it off. Not worth risking it and we don't like to take stuff off to rearrange.
Like this load I did last Friday, 8 vehicles so had to figure out best way to get them to fit, but only 2 of them actually started...
Was sat at 16" on the peak.

It keeps the old brain working.

If it's salvage just smash them all together to make them smaller biggrin

I used to like doing all of the Lagos exports on a low loader because of the puzzles. Car inside a van in the bed of a tipper on the swan neck and then a unit with another cab ratchet strapped onto the back of it with a load of car parts stuffed inside.

Nothing to see here officer hehe

Brilliant, I see some loads like that and I love the ingenuity.

I do let tyres down and smash window to crush them down a bit, if can gain an inch or two it makes the difference.

Ouch!
16' is a bit risky....assume you have a winch to load the non-starters?

Are they stripped for Ebay bargains or just cubed?

2 winches fitted, most yards we load at have a friendly forklift driver too.
Majority of them go straight in the shredder. Some get auctioned on a public website, some bargains to be had!

Go on then I'll bite, what you doing with an old army truck? I saw one delivering big generators a while ago, that looked like a cool job.

I'll raise you this for no fun in the snow adz hehe

I run a company making tech demonstrations these days, and I use it as a Outside Broadcast Vehicle / Mast truck / General moving stuff around workhorse…

Totally appropriate!

I don’t think I’ll ever beat this view from a cab. The Kyle of Durness from Cape Wrath side, we’re working on the bloody awful road to the Lighthouse.

Mount Etna in Sicily this week, looks like it’s still smoking from the recent eruption but that could just be the clouds
