Transit Custom
Discussion
Glad to hear your enjoy your new Custom. I sell them for a living, so know the trucks pretty well. For the first 2-3k I would be expecting towards 30mpg, they tend to loosen up after about 4k, go a bit better, and the economy improves. Our old L1H2 125 Demo used to see about 38mpg, with that bloody high roof, so its achieveable
We took delivery of our new Custom Sport at the end of August last year with the 155 engine.
Heated seats do only have one temperature setting, the old Transit was exactly the same. Just turn them off/on to regulate temperatures.
The interior is a lovely place to be. I drove ours down to Portugal in October, was a nice place to sit and cover the miles.
Economy will pick up a bit once you have 5000 miles on it. But still only expect low-30s. At the end of the day, it's a very un-aerodynamic thing being forced through the air, and they will never be amazing on fuel.

Can't believe fuel consumption is that bad! I can get 33MPG from a 2.5 D4D Hiace, with a roof rack!
Keen to see how the custom does in the corrosion and reliability stakes, I avoided 06> Transits for those reasons.
13-onwards old style transits and the new custom and full-fat will be much better corrosion-wise as the bodies are now all zinc coated. Keen to see how the custom does in the corrosion and reliability stakes, I avoided 06> Transits for those reasons.
I have a 2013 custom trend from new , never get more than 25 mpg , have had a tonne of faults with it , heated screen only half works , central locking stopped working with both keys , door stays on rear doors have both torn themselves away from the bodywork ......... and the list goes on ! Thinking about changing back to Toyota !
Great to drive.
That passenger seat it terrible though!
We can do loads of miles in a day (~600 today!) so split the driving between the two of us. Never any complaints when it's time to do a driving stint.
Now way suitable for 3 in the front. The pax bench is like a church pew. We have to take a memory foam pillow with us as back support but then your knees are jammed into the dash!
We spend 20% of the time saying how good and car like it is to drive and the other 80% complaining about the pax seat. Such a shame.

I had a VW Caravelle and I thought it was the bee's knee's, it was great for camping. A year after selling it I hankered for a Transit as they are bonny looking things so traded an Smax for a DCIV 310 Limited and my did it have more bells and whistles than the overpriced VW. Two years later and I am now the happy owner of a 460 Transit Trend 155 Minibus fully loaded and I absolutely love driving it. All going well I will add a Tourneo 9 seater to the driveway next year.
