Interesting. Mine is on 45k and pads 40% worn.

adblue as usual hit its warning as I go on holiday. 1500 mile warning, but when towing it uses it faster. Down to 1000 miles after only 100 driven.

A quick review of my facelift transit custom auto, thought it might be useful as I do a lot of miles.
I've had the van since September and have just gone over 30K of mainly a road and motorway use.
Specced it as a 170 auto limited L1H1 with adaptive cruise control and intelligent speed assist.
I find the van very comfortable (I'm 5 foot 8) so no issues on that score.
The auto box is on the whole very good, the gearing is shorter than the manual so the engine revs our hire on the motorway that's that hasn't caused an issue. It is prone to kicking down a gear sooner
than it needsto when you press the throttle lightly in top.
it's pretty quiet and refined although the engine is noisy under load, fine on cruise though.
adaptive cruise control is absolutely brilliant and can't imagine I'll spec a vehicle without it in future, very definitely worth having.
Intelligent speed assist is good, adjusts the speed limit of the van to the current speed limit by reading the speed limit signs, that could do with a few tweaks to further improve it.
I've had no warning lights or messages at all other than when the AdBlue needs refilling, it uses 10l in every 8000 miles.
Fuel consumption averages 37.7 miles per gallon calculated from litres over miles travelled.
I'd say it's not quite as well built more comfortable as my previous 2011 Vito but the fantastic spec more than makes up for that! Sync 3 is brilliant. also specced the reversing camera which again is very well worth having, it's very good. I'm expecting to be notified of its first service due at 36000.

Anyone worked out a non invasive way to disable the stopstart? I see on the ford trucks you can just unplug it but can't find anything for this, and I'd like to avoid code altering.

Mines has developed a slight misfire/hesitation at around 1500rpm thought it was me being a bit light on the throttle but it’s not that.

I’m out of warranty now so hopefully it doesn’t get worse in the last 6 months I have it.

There is a button on mine on the instrument binnacle Probably have to press it each time. While it bugs me, it's not enough to make me push the off button.

I sold mine and replaced with a Peugeot Boxer as I needed more load space. It’s a good van but I miss the power, car like drive and interior of the custom.

The new ones look amazing inside too. Hopefully I’ll eventually be able to come back to one..

How are these new transits for rust? Have ford finally started making vans that don’t rust within years? I have to admit I think the new transit is a great looking van

Is it the 2.2 125 Euro 5 engine by any chance?

It seems to be a common issue with that engine, mine does it too occasionally (although in a Mk7 Transit). I know a few people have had the same issue, but don't think anyone has got to the bottom of it

It’s the 130 Euro 6. I’ve not found anything concrete about it but there are some reports of injector 3 having issues, there also seems to have been a faulty batch of injectors but that’s on newer vehicles.

I put a forte fuel cleaner through it I may be imagining it but it seems a bit better.

FWIW the stop-start on my VW T6 is appalling. Clearly I am not the only one, because there is someone on fleabay selling a solution to disable it.

I've had the van stall numerous times as I am attempting right turns on A roads or entering roundabouts. VW have looked at it 3 times now, including yesterday, and say it is 'normal'... Fecking dangerous more like.

Just to update the hesitation has definitely gone so the cleaner appears to have worked.

Into my last 90 days of contract hire.

I’ve requested a price from the broker to buy will be interesting to see what they offer.

Been looking at other alternatives but keep coming back to the custom limited due to the interior spec don’t think I can give up the heated screen and seats!

These engines have a known problem with all injectors, they had a faulty batch but Ford can't trace which vehicles they went in. I run over 100 Customs and the number that suffer is significant- probably 40%, covered by warranty of course.

The ballache of dealing with it is irritating to the users and Ford dealers are pretty poor with the exception of a few gems.

I've removed Ford from the tender list as overall product quality is not sustainable - of 21 vehicles we had delivered in Q4 2019 15 had faults ranging from injector issues straight out of the box to ad-blue misfunction (no idea what that meant) and sat navs not working. At all.

In my 11 month tenure we've suffered 5 engine failures all on vehicles less than 4 years old, properly serviced etc (2 of these were for the same vehicle which is awaiting it's 3rd engine in less than a year).

The Vito fleet - zero injector issues, zero engine failures. Hell, even the Renaults are solid mechanically - just wish the interiors were the same..

Totally agree, the cabs are great, the mechanicals are truly shocking and very very frustrating. Early days in my Dispatch but no issues so far, and it’s a nicer drive, a few months into the Custom I’d already had a couple of problems.

I have had no real issues in the 4 years I’ve had it. A fuel treatment sorted out the misfire only problem I’ve had is the warning it needs a service keeps coming on when it isn’t due.

Deal done to buy end of lease, decent price and easy process. glad I’ve got it as it’s spec’d with an extra sliding door which I would have missed.

I have driven a few development models .
The top spec ones have too much going on with the dash .
The smart cruise control can be scary as you overtake on dual carriageways if going round bends as it suddenly will slam the brakes on .
The lower power ones are gutless with even a light load ,the high power ones are flying machines.
A/c ,descent stereo with satnav https://expertwatchman.com/ and blue tooth ,cruise and parking sensors are all handy .
The turn illumination is a bit un nerving on roundabouts at night until you get used to it ,I thought it was someone trying to get up the inside .
Good range on the fuel tank as well.
Ours are all development models so vary from the normal specs and engine tune and some are special eco models while others are running high power units ,all have the spec badges deleted .
If anybodys Looking for a new Ford van, just let me know smile

Hit 88888 today. By chance my long term average also changed from 36.7 which it's been stuck at for 2 years to 37.6...

I did have to be towed off a grass track yesterday which was embarrassing, and the towing eye attachment is in a particularly cunning place.

It did do something a little funny today - if it was petrol I'd say it was missing just for a few seconds. Something to keep an eye on.
