Here in Belgium, on all 2-lane motorways trucks are limited to the inside lane between the hours of 6am to 7pm, and it's quite actively policed. On 3-lane motorways, they can use 2 of the 3 lanes.

It has made driving on some routes a bit easier, but I have a feeling that we've seen more bad truck accidents since it was introduced, often with fatalities.
Had the misfortune to get stuck in one of those once. I hope to superior being that that is never implemented here.

I propose that trucks be fitted with a KERS device, which they're allowed to activate once a day, that works for a period of a few minutes and also both removes the speed limiter and plays Kickstart My Heart at max volume.
The first actual idea that could work.
Would only work if you could make sure it could only be used in an overtaking situation.

Otherwise you d just have people using it ll day to get where ever quicker.

You know, I know the post is a few days old, but thought I'd come back to appreciate it some more. Just pulled out and passed 3 cars doddling along a straight B-road at 35-40 in my flatbed. Wish I had come Crue loaded up biggrin. Technically my wagon is old enough that I think the fridge magnet trick still works to pop the limiter off, could have done that for added effect & popped the beacons on. Think I scared the st out of the little Aygo at the front of the queue mind. biggrin 8 very large wheels flying passed at a ~16mph speed differential ought to wake you up, specially as it was a bit of a ballsy pass based on the width and undulation of the road.
