Know someone who spent ~£100k on building a Winnebago-size campervan from a big truck in the 1990s.

It leaked constantly, you couldn't drive it around the proper pretty spots of Cornwall, Wales and Scotland because it was too big, and it was almost impossible to resell afterwards. They lost a fortune for just a handful of trips on motorways to big caravan sites they could park in.

There are thousands of places to park it, they are called bus stops. I'm sure nobody would mind and if they did just tell them you are travellers as, as we all know they can do whatever they like.

I’ve run Motorhomes for the last 20 years from 10 mtrs with a 5mtr trailer down to the smallest at 7.5 mtrs and have never ever had a problem with being able to park, as Spiffington has stated planning ahead is the key to all of it.
On the Continent no problems whatsoever, go to the Motorhome Exhibition and look at what you will see parked there and camping, some are massive and they sell a lot inside the exhibition as well, so don’t lose heart if you want a large motorhome Go for it.
As always there are a lot of people who will comment who have never driven very much above 7 mtrs.

Enjoy whatever you choose.

Agree with the size thing not being a problem. I tow a 7m trailer with a 7.5m motorhome and it is fine, just need more planning time that is all.

As for sites, wild camping is no problem at all. We have stayed at loads of places with loads of space for a bus in the UK and abroad. With a coach you can stick a scooter easily in the garage and zip around on that to get anywhere you can't stay near. If you want to stay in a caravan housing estate with many, many rules you will struggle (as others have said).

I think it comes down to this. If you have an unusual vehicle you will need to not follow the heard and find your own way and go off the beaten track.
