You say that you "need" to buy one, is that because your insurers insist on one? If so then you'll need a proper Thatcham 5 or 6 and if that's the case something like a Scorpion is pretty good. Typical price is £300 with an annual monitoring fee of c£150. But if you're buying one because you like the idea and don't need all the bells and whistles, then I'm in the same boat at the moment and I'll probably buy a cheap one off ebay. Something like the TK103a where you monitor and track the signal yourself and can even turn the engine off remotely from your PC. All for around £30.
