Hi all,

I'm looking to hire a motorhome for a week in Feb and have a bimble around the lake district or Wales.

There will only be two of us but the fixed rear double is more appealing than the two berth motorhome (same price too)

https://www.justgo.uk.com/4-berth-fixed-rear-doubl...

Anyone got any advice for I take the plunge and book? (Yes I know the weather may not be to everyones taste)

What are these things like on fuel?

Probably manage just under 30mpg if you keep to around 60 on the motorway,
Best advice is just go for it see if you like it.
You should get a good hire rate this time of year.

£50 a night hire for Feb, plus whatever the campsites charge - I gather not all will be open, is there a guide to what's a fair pitch price?

Ideal for finding places to stay, includes many pub stopovers where it's free if you eat there.

Have you driven anything so large before? If not, its not a problem but leave yourself plenty of time to get to places; and enjoy the slower pace of life that a MH affords you. smile

Take some hangers so you can hang any wet clothing in the shower to dry.

Take plenty of books/Kindle/DVD's etc in case the weather is ste.

Make sure to familiarise yourself with everything when it get handed over to you especially the the heating/water heating. I'm pretty sure that the place you are hiring from probably wont mind you filing parts of the handover on your phone if its complicated.

We go touring right throughout the winter in ours and its great. Everywhere is much quieter so you can get onto sites without booking usually (best to check if its Half Term though).

We used this lot for The Good Life Festival in September '17. 2 adults, 2 dogs.

Kind of a trial run to see if we fancied a motorhome at some point. Very good people to deal with - they have instruction/intro video's up on YT for you to swot up before collection & the handover process was v comprehensive. 100% recommended.

We didn't track the MPG. It was 1 1/2 tanks over 300 miles (ish), but don't know the tank size, so I'd be guessing at 90 - 100l?? This was the beast: https://www.hireahymer.com/modern-motorhomes/blink...

Fell free to ask any questions. Chs.

Seconded for Hire a Hymer.

We rented from them some years ago before deciding to buy an older motorhome for ourselves.

I'd happily use them again.

I was in the same position last year. Thread here:

My advice would be to pack lots of little bits of foam so you can stop some of the rattles.

Its not available in Feb but have you seen this...

Unfortunately its seems as though they don't cover flights and not as good as last years deal but you still get a lot for your money.

No updates.

An offer too good to refuse popped up on secret escapes, so we got away for a week of sunshine and warmth instead.

I think i'm going to get something booked in a few months though
