Rear View Cameras
Discussion
I have been looking at rear view parking cameras on eBay and there seem to be a lot around the £30 mark with a screen. This seems quite cheap but has anyone bought one and what were their thoughts?
Its to go on the rear of the caravan, for use when towing to see whats behind me whilst going along (Legality not sure) also for insuring that I don't hit things when reversing. I don't have a mover and there is a brick wall on my drive that I am to get close to when parking. A camera should help avoid hitting it one day!
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Wondered about something similar myself though not for use whilst moving. Thought about a WiFi camera and simply using a smartphone for the screen, might be too laggy though? Something like this, just velcro it on to wherever you need it when manourvering: https://www.gearbest.com/car-dvr/pp_949330.html?wi...
I am more thinking of installing the camera on the rear and adding a small connector by the electrics on the car. Then installing the screen in the dash. There is an ideal space for a 5" Screen. Might get a second camera to use for hooking up but I seem to have mastered that now anyway.
Ive installed a couple of the number plate cameras and rear view mirror monitors from chinese sellers on ebay. never had an issue, my wifes Vauxhall Meriva has had one for 2 years now and it still works. Juts needs a wipe now and then when the lense on the camera gets dirty and also make sure you wire it in robustly e.g. fuse tap and sturdy ground.

Whats the image like, comparable to the built in versions? In my old motorhome i fitted a twin lens rear view camera, one lens looking back, one looking down with a monitor that mounted over the rear view mirror. The mirror was previosuly useless as all it showed was the bed at the back of the motorhome. I didn’t bother with the automatic reverse switchover as it was easy to swap between views when reversing by pressing a button on the monitor, this allowed both long distance and ‘direct down’ views at the touch of a button.
My new motorhome came with a reversing camera fitted that looks straight down, i’ve only used the motorhome a couple of times but i’ve already fitted a 2nd rear view camera to allow me to see behind at all times like a normal rear view mirror. Luckily the wiring to the existing camera had a wire for a 2nd camera pre-installed, but I did need to cut the end off the cable and the new camera to match the wires as they had different connectors and the manufacturer additional camera was seriously expensive.
For both motorhomes i have used a company called parking cameras uk, they have a few different websites but all at the same address in Essex. I spoke to the owner for both systems and he gave great advice and helped me make sure I purchased the correct kit / cameras / screens. Admittedly its probably the same gear as you can buy off Ebay etc, but all kit is pre-tested and the advice is was massively useful. For instance i didnt realise that the cameras have either narrow or wide angle lenses, narrow for rear view, wide angle for reversing etc.
