I'm going to get one of these, I've currently got a big Weber one touch and a Go Anywhere Charcoal. The Go anywhere gets used loads, the big kettle hardly gets any use. I've probably used it 5 times in the last 3 years. Takes loads of coal to get the heat in it and most of the time there's just 2 adults and one child.

I'm going to buy a Cadac to supplement the Go anywhere or take camping instead of it.

I'll probably get a pizza stone for it but I'm just not sure whether to go for the combi option of the Paella pan the chef pan or the skottel?

I struggled to decide on this also. In the end I went for the Paella pan as the chef pan looked a bit shallow and I had visions of spilling the food over the side of it but in reality I'm sure either would have been fine. Also Go Outdoors had an offer on and didn't do the chef's pan combo. The only thing I'd say against the Paella is that if you want to use the lid it sort of sits on top of the pan but not onto the actual Cadac due to the handles. With the chef's pan it would completely cover it. I'm sure the skottel has some uses but I wrote it off as from what I understand it isn't non-stick and it's recommended to use a liner with it if cooking something messy.

Ours came with that half and half griddle thing plus the paella pan we bought as an option. Used the griddle thing once, it proved near impossible to clean, especially away Camping, so it sits in the garage now and we only ever use the paella pan. Easiest think to clean ever, not sure why you’d need anything else really.

We have a Cadac Carri Chef 2 and I'm surprised how much it gets used- it will do pretty much everything.

The pizza stone has been a massive success, we use that loads, as long as you keep the base pretty thin its quite quick to make a pizza.

Cleaning my hand after making the dough, however... smile

I bought the Aquaforno 2 off Indiegogo instead of a cadac - mainly cause I live taking my charcoal bullet smoker with us...

It let's me use it as a gas oven, or a chef pan - but also let's me use it as a proper wood fired oven.

Can't give a proper review yet, as I've not got the full kit through - however the bits I have got (main unit, pizza stone, carry case, kettle) are all absolutely superb.

I can’t decide between the cadac or the Campingaz party 600.

£50-100 price different for something that looks identical and actually seems to pack up better.

Are the Cadac Safari really that good?

We've just returned from a weekend away and yesterday was pretty warm in the caravan while cooking so having the option of cooking in the shade sounds a good idea. The idea of the aroma of cooking a madras curry seems good to me as well.

I'd be looking to connect it to the gas connection on the outside of the van so presume I'd need that adaptor, a length of pipe then a connection to the bbq itself. Would it also be possible to use the gas canisters as well in the event of a day out without the caravan?

Yes - provided you use some instantaneous connections: I have a few lengths of hose, the right adapter on the Cadac and a regulator that screws on to a camping gaz bottle. it gives me the option to run off the motorhome or off another bottle.

I'd suggest the Cadac build quality is quite a bit better. I know a couple we've gone camping with have had theirs years, and it looks new.

Much like a Weber kettle bbq compared to pretty much all the competition. Looks very similar, but underlying differences make one much better value.

Agreed. We have two gas bottles in the motorhome: one is connected to the van’s internal supply and the other - via an adapter - connects to the Cadac. At home we have another gas bottle that stays in the garage that we take out for BBQs at home. Quite tempted to buy a second Cadac so one can stay at home and the other in thevan.

Any suggestions where to get one from in case I've overlooked the obvious? I have looked on the bay and amazon but open to suggestions for a good deal.

As long as it has the bbq, fry up and saucepan parts as I doubt I'll be making pizzas anytime soon ( I'd burn 1000 calories in 5 minutes)

Are you a member of either/both of the big clubs (C&MC and/or C&CC)?...if so it might be worth checking to see what discounts they offer from certain affiliated vendors.

Hamilton Gas Products always seem to be very well priced.

Just ordered the Campingaz 600 from them, £75 off RRP.

I'm not, no. Is it worth joining though?

I bagged one from go outdoors yesterday for £90.00 as they had an extra 10% off. I would have tried it yesterday but the guy gave me the wrong gas cartridge. I'll get the correct one today as we're off to sunny Ringwood at the weekend.

Yes, membership offers discounts at a number of outlets which more than cover the annual membership. Plus with break down cover, you can’t get full cover with the RAC for a motorhomes unless you’re a member.

You've all convinced me - Cadac Carri Chef 2 PLANCHA & Paella Pan combo ordered along with the Vango Sunbeam light system and Tyrepal for the caravan. That should keep me happy for a bit.
