Just had our second week away in the caravan, pretty much got it all sussed - just need a few pointers.

1 - do you load up all you clothes and things into the cupboards before you set off?
We had clothes and food in the car with us and then unpacked when we got there, but wondering if we need to bother?

2 - During the day where do you put all the bedding, under the seats?

3 - Awning - can get it up and down no problem. I pegged down all around the outside with 6” nails with a green plastic end thing.
Are there better pegs?
On the inside of the awning there is a grey plastic skirt with intended holes - should i be nailing/pegging that down as well?

Why would you have an awning covering the whole van? There were a couple there the full time we were and it was always sealed up and no windows or curtains open?! Must of been boiling!
Got a pic but the file is too big!

1 - when we used to be unable to bring the caravan home, we used to take it all in the car and then unload when we pitched up. When I moved and had a drive big enough to put caravan on, we used to load up all the clothes before we left and unloaded when we got home (unless I was takIng caravan straight back to storage).
2 - in my first caravan, yes. For my 2nd caravan I had a fixed bed.
3 - I always used to use the same type of pegs, rock pegs. If you want something better, then you would be looking at using pegs that work best with the ground you are pitched on. I find rocks pegs are the do all peg for me. I do have sand pegs which I never used.

Why use a full awning?
I have (had - now got a motorhome as of last Sunday) both. Use the porch awning for shorter trips away and the full for the longer trips. The full gives a lot more space. The fronts and the sides come out/fold down to make it more like a sun canopy, so great in summer.

Full awning for me, complete with extensions, but only for our main two week holiday. I sleep in the awning and so does my son. Wife sleeps in the caravan which means the seats dont need to be made up into a bed for her. On shorter holidays we just use a porch awning.

The extensions on the main awning are used for storing push bikes and sleeping in, leaving the main awning space for sitting/eating etc.

We keep our van in storage, so usually bring it onto our driveway a few days before and laid up, clothes in wardrobe etc.

Bedding stored under seats during the day.

As for the awning flaps, I tuck them inside and lay the ground sheet on them, which stops draughts and rain getting in.

Great replies thanks!

Re the awning - this awning covered the caravan as well.
Normal caravan with a huge awning covering it!

I am guessing the caravan was not being used and the cover is being used to stop the caravan getting dirty.

Im guessing what you saw was a caravan in storage with a cover attached, to keep it clean?

Finally worked out how to resize - its a normal caravan underneath, NOT a pop up one!

That’ll be a trailer tent, not a caravan.
Caravan lower, the rest tent.

It wasnt a trailer tent - definately a normal caravan with a tent over the top!

So another week away and another question!

The first and last 1M or so of our awning ‘pipe’ is soft - its not got the hard insert in it and so doesnt feed into the rail, it just pushs in and out.

Not questioned this until this weekend, when we have had 30mph guests! Looking at other awnings we should feed this bit in.

Problem is we have the canvas section sewn into the awning - its just missing its middle core.
Everything ive found is a whole new stitch in section, what can i put inside the hole to stiffen it and make it stay in the channel?

100% a folding camper, great if you don't have a good towing capacity on your current car. Still regret selling mine!!
