Inneed of eletrical help for caravan

Hi,
I have just bought a Sprite Alpine 1994 2 berth.
I have little to no caravan experience so I apologise if these questions are incredibly stupid.
I connected the caravan up to the mains at home but I'm not sure which setting the rocker switch should be on (car, caravan or off), whether the battery should be left connected or be disconnected ( I dont think it has a battery charger), how I check that all the eletrics run off the mains correctly.
Any help would be much appreciated

When plugged into the mains we have it set to off.
When connected to the car, set to car, but I generally just leave it off as its only really the fridge that will cool down!
On van all the 12v should work, maybe some 240v if you have an invertor.
I would be surprised if your van battery didn't charge while it was plugged into the mains
