Looking for a touring van site, new Forest (ish)
Discussion
Hi there. Wondered if anyone has recommendations in the new forest area. We’re off to car fest south and want to tag on a few days nearby and the new forest isn’t far. I’ve had a look at the caping and carvanning club sites but all bar one are no elec and the one that is elec has some varied trip advisor reports to say the least.
We like quiet, decent facilities preferably near to some decent villages etc for meals out.
Any recommendations welcomed.

I don't think Sandy Balls do tourers any more, I think it's all wooden lodge things now.
Hill Cottage Farm is just outside the forest and is decent, we often use it for a weekend as we're only half an hour or so away.
There are some decent CL's near Lymington as well..
The Camping in the Forest sites are OK but basic and not exactly cheap, some are without EHU and toilets...

Lytton Lawn near Milford on Sea is a site we have stayed at several times in the past. Its a touring only site with a small shop. Is part of the Shorefields www.shorefield.co.uk chain and you have access to the facilities of their nearby mobile home site including indoor swimming pool.
Its not a cheap site but quite well located.

Not if you try and book it, then you only get the choice of self-cateringhttps://www.awayresorts.co.uk/touring-camping/
Only visited the area once but would highly recommend
Long Meadows campsite, really clean & tidy, foot path through the forest to Brockenhurst

We always stay at The Red Shoot at Linwood.
Great little independent site, loads of EHU pitches, nicely spaced out and friendly staff, it is behind a good pub (also called The Red Shoot) but the two businesses are entirely independent.

You're right in the Forest there, you can walk for miles from the doorstep, including a brilliant flat trek for walking/cycling along Tom's Lane, which brings you out at The High Corner Inn, which does great food and has a really nice beer garden.
It's a really nice place to camp, very quiet at night, and no light pollution so on a clear night you can really see the stars and feel like you are properly away from it all.
