Hi, just bought my first caravan last weekend (2001 abbey Pacific) haven't a clue about it so started googling things and found most of what I needed
Only thing I can't find out about is there's a red rocker switch under one of the seats with charge written above it and on and off either side can anybody help what's this for

Welcome to the (Caravan) Club. There's a few of us on here.

Hard to say what your "charge" switch does without seeing the wiring and so on. At a guess and assuming you have an on-board leisure battery in the 'van then I suspect the switch may turn on the charger for it if you're connected to the mains (i.e. on hook up). The on-board battery can also charge from the car when you are towing / the engine is running.

Here's a post similar to yours that I posted a bit of info in: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Welcome to the club, we got our first one last summer, fantastic things and we've loved every minute using it.

Sorry, no help on the rocker switch though, but if you get a habitation check done on it then they'd be able to identify it I would think?

Really stupid question for you: have you got the right groups on your driving licence to allow you to tow it?

Yea all the right groups, have the licence from before you had to do the towing test

If you can't get an answer here, try the Caravantalk forum - they're good for stuff like that.

I'll be honest and say i've never seen a switch like that in any of my 4 previous caravans

That's the switch for the on-board battery charger.

One of the few advantages of being old biggrin (I was also unaffected by this.)
