How about a 5th wheel? Better than a normal caravan and more versatile than a camper once at a destination
I've not really considered them, but kind of assumed that they have none of the benefits of a caravan, and none of the benefits of a MH. smile

Presumably they're treated like caravans when it comes to Stellplatzen and Aires? Plus, would you have the length issue when it comes to getting on a MH pitch?

I agree with Spuffington, an A class feels and is much more spacious than B class.

It's all personal choice of course but in my experience a fixed bed gives you a sense of normality from home. Separate living and bedroom make for a more conventional setup.
The two vans we're looking at have fixed beds and three room layouts - the bedroom can be closed off, as can the bathroom.

Given the desire for a shorter MH the payload discussion is extra important thumbup
Both the vans on the list at the moment can be upgraded to 4.5t. Once the steady legs are installed, payload is still over 900kg. That's dry, but even with two people, a dog, a tank of fuel, gas and 20l of water, there's got to be 600kg of headroom, I'd have thought.

I'd be happy with that yes

We thought about a 5th wheel briefly but as you say, its still a towed vehicle. No Aires, stelplatz etc either. Plus no nipping in the back for a quick pee 'on the hoof' if the situation demands hehe (Mrs O not me, you understand smile )
