Hi All,

Me and my partner are big lovers of camping and have been going to a spot near the Skirrid (Abergavenny/ Hay-on-Wye area) for a couple of years. It is very cheap (£3pp pn) with no facilities expect a stream! This is perfect for us as it is within a 40 minute drive of our house and we love packing up on a Friday afternoon and going for the weekend. It is great as you can go for a weekend away for less than £50!

We are now looking for some other options, I'm not bothered about facilities as we only go for weekends at a time. It literally just needs to be a cheap, pretty field we can spend weekends in the sun. I know we have been spoilt with our current site but I am wondering if any PH'ers will be able to shed some light on a good new campground for us!

Have you thought of buying a field or woodland somewhere in the area you enjoy? I know a chappie that works in one of the branches of Maidebnhead Aquatics and he bought a corner of some woodland in west Cambridgeshire for, I think he said £5k and he camps there almost every weekend,. I know he went there over New Year in his tent. No resources and not allowed to build anything, but he says it give him the solitude they want.

Might be a starter ?https://www.woods4sale.co.uk/information-pages/buying-a-woodland.htm

I use pitchup.com for finding little sites like that.
