Any recommendations for books/films on Everest?

Not looking to climb it, just ended up on a Wikipedia hole reading about it and was fascinated.

Not specific to mount Everest but "The White Spider", "Touching the Void", and "Mountains of the Mind" are three essential reads on mountaineering.

Everest First Ascent the Untold.Story -The book by Griff Pugh's daughter on his contribution to the silence of the first ascent, brilliant alternative view point. Joe Tasker's Everest the Cruel Way. Fearless On Everest about Sandy Irvine are all in my collection. Tasker's Savage Arena is a great book on big climbs in general.

Try Dark Shadows Falling by Joe Simpson. A gripping read and very thought provoking, if quite dark at times.
