Thanks for the detailed reply to pretty much every question posed! When I was asking for pictures the only reason was to see what colour it was really, so thanks for telling me. I hate to think of such a beautiful machine being the colour of Rowan's. I like the mirrors on the A pillar idea too
And as for the clutch comments. With my mere 330bhp and a 6 paddle AP clutch, I still drive in the fashion of stop, leave a gap, clutch up fast, stop, leave a gap etc etc. It is very difficult to slip the clutch and I don't want to be replacing it any time soon.

Thankyou very much for such an informative post. I was fortunate enough last year to spend an hour or so crawling over a road version and le mans car at a west end mews dealership. I was absolutely stunned with the quality of the workmanship, it was evident that the car had now older tecnology which made it even more special when you consider it's achievements are still the benchmark today. I know what you mean about entry/exit and found the diagrams amusing.
Finally very interesting, your comments regarding the journalists impressions......I am now inspired to go upstairs and dig out my Mclaren road test reports ..

Having got it into my head that I wanted such a thing, I spent a year taking advanced driving instruction, so that I would not make a total fool of myself behind the wheel. Having reached the point (in my own mind, if no one else's) where I could at least cope with this sort of car, I then set to acquiring one.
I would just like to say that this single quote impressed me the most about the whole post.
Welcome, great to see some really good info regarding the car. Including some of its lesser points.
Now, about that 959!
Just to echo the previous comments made thanks for posting such a detailed response on ownership of the 'car' (I dont think that word does it justice to be honest).
As you may have guesed most car enthusiasts treat the F1 as a motoring deity that is just in another league altogether from the Enzo's Carrera GT's Zonda's etc. One magazine in a recent article described it as 'the legendary F1' and that is exactly what it is.
I most liked your comment about feeling privilaged to be a custodian of the car. That seems to mark you out as a true enthusiast rather than just some rich guy who wanted to buy the ultimate garage jewellery. It must be a bit like owning a Le Mans winning 'Blower' Bentley or a stately home.
I hope you continue to enjoy it and drive it as it was intended.
What is the best / most unusual reaction you have got when driving it? Any bad reactions?

Cheers, and welcome from across the pond. Enjoyed your first post. I have heard some of what you said before from a gent here in Florida that used to own two of the monsters. He sold them because the cooling systems didn't like the South Florida weather... (Now he has to settle for his Bugatti EB110, XJ220, Saleen S7, etc, etc... )
Anyway, feel free to jump in on other topics as well. It gets a little addictive.
As far as pictures go, I'm sure Ted could sort something out for you if you'd like to give him a few. (I'd be happy to host them for you as well...)
I look forward to additional posts!

Back of the net!
Good post and good to see a PHer not afraid to post more than 20 lines.
I take back everything I said about burberry and tartan
Now, have you ever been aboard a ZZR1100/Fireblade or similar - obviously still a different league but how far apart are they in the real world?
