Pretty intertesting how it got started.

Now think for a moment, how many people's lives would be changed if, tomorrow, PH simply ceased to be.

Just think of how many of us, as a daily (or hourly) routine, it is to check the posts.

You've done a great thing Ted...

Mad Mike (who, without PistonHeads, would be much dumber about cars, and have 20 points lower blood pressure over Bush and Iraq )

How telling Looks like you're quoting something that has already been deleted. I'm sure if Ted wanted every Tom Dick & Harry to know his full name he'd have it posted on his profile. Oops, sorry there, didn't realise it had been deleted (It was a quote of a quote from an earlier post).
Whatever... Sorry didn't realise it was secret squirrel. Rich...

Well, without the help of PH'ers, (you all know who you are!) i certainly would'nt be doing what i'm doing now.

You're doing something? How? When do you find the time?

If it weren't for Pistonheads I would most certainly never have had the opportunity to get driven in - let alone see up close - most cars from the whole TVR range. For this alone thanks a LOT to PetrolTed for setting up all this and to all the owners who were kind enough to let me in their TVRs (and Martin for the footage in the GT3, yes, really ).
Those forums have also certainly proved to be interesting wanderings into somehow different political considerations ()
Looking forward to meeting some people from the other edge of the world too and other ones who are less far (you know who you are ).

I am indeed doing something!

Probably not something that bears other people thinking about though

I remember the Egroup days .... awful, but informative.

Ted has managed to provide the best vehicle for open discussion on the most popular (and some less so) marques available today.

It is a shame that some of the higher levels of the TVRCC committee appear to be so anti. I was at a dinner this year when one was quite damning of the whole thing. It seems some of the discussions are not in their favour and this disagrees with their gentile constitution. However, I see some change to these opinions and let's hope they further embrace it as a tool for feedback on club activities.

What makes PH so successful for me is a number of reasons ...

1 - Social aspect
2 - Informative aspect
3 - entertainment aspect
4 - community spirit
5 - like mindedness

Ted is a top bloke, I am lucky enough to see him for a beer now and then and increasingly I believe, he has tried to keep his real identity away from the site, rightfully so.

It has to be remembered that Ted stuck with the site through thick and thin, as for the 1st couple of years it was not as successful as you may have imagined. It was Ted's passion for the car's of all marques and his belief he could make it work as a living that kept him going.

It's difficult to believe I've been on here for 4 yrs !!

What I do miss though are some of the guys and girls who were around 3-4 yrs ago, where are they now ?? Almost feels like we need a reunion !!

Please let's not turn this into a TVRCC bashing thread.

Ted,

Far from it, as I said, it appears there is change afoot. It is far from my intention to grind an axe about the TVRCC.

There are soooo many of the RO's on the site either publically or or lower profile that it can only become a vehicle for feedback, which is a good thing.

I may have been vocal about TVRCC events, I have never been critical of the TVRCC on this site, though..... and yes I do see them as distint comments.

Blimey I remember the egroups! They were quite useful but when it all seemed to move onto here the pace changed a little.
Cheers everso Ted, the comment about how lives would be very different without PH couldn't be more real for me. Met my girlfreind through PH, met several (now) very close freinds through PH, got my Job as a result of PH.
Crikey...... If I have children I hope they come equiped with a V8 engine and Pistonheads sticker!
