Patio Heaters - advice pls

Want to get a patio heater this weekend - one of the big fellas. Just wondered if anyone knows if you are able to have one underneath a roof, or whether they have to burn with air space above it.

Just want to make sure I'm not gonna set light to the upstairs blokes balcony!!!

mine says not for indoor use but Im sure that if you are outside (or under a balcony) and there is sufficient free space above you will be fine.

Managed to singe some wisteria with our one but as long as nothing too delicate is above it, you should be OK. The metal reflector er, reflects most of the heat downwards.

Neighbour uses theirs under a gazebo and that hasn't gone up yet however it isn't a full-size one

Have a look on ebay - some of them are quite cheap - cheaper than the DIY shops and garden centres - and have the regulator and wheels with them.

We use ours under a cloth sun shade, where the cloth actually touches the heat deflector. For all the top of the heat deflector gets hot to the touch, in my opinion, it's not hot enough to actually cause combustion.

you have to be kidding right? My patio heater kicks out so much heat that I worry how close it is to the upvc windows!

I bought one of these from Somerfield in Cippenham - Slough at the weekend for £79.99. Had to buy a regulator - £12.99 and the gas. Took about an hour to put together on my own. Switched it on and I was surprised at the ammount of heat it put out.

needing a patio heater for when the old folks visit but unsure on gas or electric - any recommendations?

need for a medium-size patio, covering 4-6 people maximum

If your an get power out there, I'd buy a few of those soft touch electric heated throws. Love ours. Even goes in the washing machine.
