Not sure about whether any samples are kept....Sold, etc. You heard about dead baby organs being not buried, I wouldn't put it past any "official" body to bugger about with any raw material as they pleased. There are plenty of reasons which could be very profitable/useful to do with the research on this material.

I hate being this cynical.

I will ask the bird (microbiologist) about the way they would go about this.

By the way, I thought hair was just a protein?!?!?! Hence no DNA. Is this a con?

"We propose to tell you about your fitness from a hair sample, just send £3000 and some hair"

"We have decided that you should eat less salt, stop smoking/drinking, drink Yakult and take up religion"

There were rumblings about UK cops taking DNA samples and I swear to god, I would go to court to defend the rights of my genetic fingerprint.

We already take DNA samples from people arrested / charged for certain offences, even though the offences are expanding, we can take dna from shoplifters, burglars, people involved in assaults and many more now.

But that just uses it as an identity, a set of smudges on chromatography. It isn't being used for genetic typing surely?

I think we use it for profiling as well, so we can tell from dna left at a scene personal details, sex, build, hair colour etc.

PS this is what i herd from Forensics and may or maynot actually happen!
