Yup agreed but what is the running rebuild time at that state of tune?

No substitue for cc's and all that. Although I am slightly biased

Any Ultima with a basic NOS kit *cough* can blow that into the weeds, subject to gearing of course, and anyone fitting a 6 speed transaxle with a 7k rpm engine limit can achieve those magic numbers on far less than a £50k budget.

I doubt very much if TG was looking for a supercar car for this event, but more for a buy-able street car 'with mods', in which the Supra wins everytime for the money. I would gladly like to own a 1000 plus hp supra as long as it looked standard of course

You have to hand it to the Japs, even Holeshot can attain 600hp from a blown Huyabusa engine and still gain a modicum of reliability from 1300cc

The yanks produce reliable power from a large mill and the Japs produce consistantly outrageous power from blown mid-sized engines.

'Tis an exciting automotive world we live in

May the best man win

Interesting you say 'chasing Leon in his supra' as he hasnt made it there the last 2 years , surely you should say chasing CRD in their supra !!!!!

Not really interested in the CRD car, Friendly rivalry with Leon.I keep seeing pictures on men & motors of him beating my Saff in the rwd final of totb1.
We both didnt appear last year as both cars broke two days before the event. Both at M.A.Developments for final testing ,Leon went out first & his engine died & I followed him & broke a custom driveshaft, so both out. We will attempt to be there this time.

Ahh you want revenge !!!!!!!
Will be good to see you and Leon there this year , i would expect his supra to have an awesome top end , lets hope he gets it to stay together as he hasnt had a lot of luck with it lately allthough last year he still turned up to support the rest of us who ran and had the fantastic idea of stripping my car when we knew we had to race the CRD car in the shootout , amazing 20 mins to strip and 2hrs to put back together !!!!

As stock you mean? If so 320bhp, and I think vmax is 167mph.
That gives a 0.5CdA of 14554 which would suggest that the Supra is not so slippery, but has an eminantly tuneable motor.

Of course the gearbox has to go - Quaife supplied a suitable sequential box I believe.

Ding

For this thread I think you need to listen to Clarkson:

"Rule number one when trying to make a fast car. Start with a fast one in the first place"

(or something along those lines)

I would've suggested they start by, err, building an Ultima. Proper specification Chevy 6.3, lightweight body work and you'll hit 200 straight out of the box and not have to rebuild it afterwards.

A bird with legs that size she could bump start jumbo jets. Although I'm sure she has a lovely, er, personality. Maybe C5 could get theirs sponsored by Wicked Weasel? It may never do 200MPH but it would sell a huge amount of posters and magazines.

If it needs NOs I can't see it "sustaining speeds beyond 200MPH" and 0-60 in 4s is standard(ish) for a fair few standard cars now. Still, I suppose it can be done. Unless thats 200 "Max Power" MPH, I would like to see speed trap or dyno results for proof (unless I missed something on there).

It might be that the Nitrous is there to help with acceleration, and the turbines are there to keep it up to speed.

As for the lass, I'm wondering if she has to hang onto the bonnet at 200+!

OK, so someone on here has calculated that the Lotus will need somewhere over 530 BHP or whatever to do 200 mph.

The Lotus still won't do 200 mph at Bruntingthorpe though. The runway isn't long enough.

If GuyR's 620 BHP Ruf modified GT2 can only do 196 mph at the last Vmax when we know its top speed is a true 207 MPH IIRC (only limited by gearing) then that means that the Lotus needs a genuine top speed of about 215 mph to actually do 200 at Brunters.

Don't forget that AdamT's Ruf CTR Yellowbird has a genuine top speed of 213 mph, but it can only do 200 mph at Brunters on a good day, although its brakes do become an issue, it's an old car.

So 5th Gear need to get their asses to Nardo or Ehra-lessien (where the Mac F1 did its thing) or they have no chance.

So, they need to optimise aero, get the engine making at least 550 BHP, and hire Ehra-lessien......easy eh?

Why don't 5th gear just borrow Stig's Supercharged Ultima for the day - I'm sure that has enough power to crack 200MPH

Interesting then that there was an Ultima at TOTB3 and it only could hit 170 something at Elvinton !!!!

Fancy going halves on one for the next VMAX Mat?

Stop it now, stop...

I reckon that one is a replica and someone has been had to be honest...
You reckon?

Has the right airbox (OK, anyone could get one of them), but most importantly check out the intercoolers. Where are they? Why Greg, inside the rear wings. Just like a Yellowbird.

Would you go to such a colossal reengineering cost on a fake?

Unless Adam comes alongh and tells us otherwise, I reckon it could be kosher.

Just seems too good to be true at $58K, with stickers everywhere, not yellow.

If someone has got a bargain I'm happy, jealous but happy.

Its also lacking the 'proper' wing mirrors isnt it?

The bonnet also doesnt look right...
