You should use this road to get to Fettercairn, and then drive over the hill/mountain to Banchory. Best bit of road ever.

I've been on this one a few times.

I think it's single track, or am I wrong ?
Lots of roads round there seem to be single track.

If you are in Banchory, you probably already know
the road west to Braemar, and then the A93 south to Perth.

Goes over the highest public road in the UK in the area of the Glenshee ski area. Interesting drive

The road mentioned is normal carriageway. Obviously you drive the same as me - if the road is empty, straight line everything! Absolutely glorious road over the summit. Agree on the A93 as well.

I make reasonably regular trips from Brighton to Aboyne. I used to really enjoy it back in t`old days, but with all the cameras it is now "safer" to fly to Aberdeen and rent a car.

I favourite road though has to be the old icbm road from the sub base to loch lomond top tastic... cant remember the name though

We did this bit in a 968 last weekend. Fantastic stretch. A great alternative to Loch Lomond road because there are no other cars on it!

Glen Fruin. Used to be a military road only, but it was 'adopted' several years ago. About 10 miles, no junctions, superb grade, extra-grippy surface on the corners, and good sight lines.

First time I drove it I had the speed limiter in the passenger seat, but then did it again with a friend,'a bit quicker'.

A817 - here.

Edited to get link right.

Edinburgh to Moffat via A701. Great the other way if you're coming from England: Moffat is just off the M74. Watch out for some mid-corners bumps, and also the 'homemade' Gatso...

A group of us just spent the weekend driving round Scotland, parts of it on the North 500. Myself in a 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (Supercar or Sportscar??), 2013 Cayman S, 2016 BMW 135i and a 2014 Audi S3. An amazing trip with the best weather you could ask for, sunny every day without a cloud in the sky. Probably pissed off a few locals with the incredible noise but can't please 'em all.

This was roughly our route:-

Stayed at the Invergarry Hotel and then the Aultbea Hotel, highly recommend both. Need to go for lunch in Applecross, only one restaurant but the food was spot on.

Have the roads changed much in the last 12 years? hehe
