Why so long when EVO oozes over the car?

Because evo is a nationally distributed magazine that has the reputation - not entirely deserved - of being THE journalistic authority on performance cars so most car companies will deal with that in preference to a web site. Even one as good as Pistonheads, which unlike certain magazines really is about the thrill of driving and isn't snobby about low cost specialist sports cars.

A lot of people obviously still need educating, and the possibility of a Pistonheads stand at selected car shows could make a big difference. Might even happen this year...

You also need to consider that Pistonheads doesn't have the resouces of a major publishing house behind it and we're limited in what/how much we can do due to the costs involved.

So apologies for the delay, but we will get round to it.

Has Autocar ever tested a Vemac?

Are they selling any of these fine looking auto's?

Who do you buy them from?

Hey what is the skinny with these cars? EVO has given them a little bit of pub, but no one in PHLand has tested one of these hotties.
What's the deal?

Asked Vemac for an update just the other week. Situation is that the Japanese backers still haven't decided if they're going to go ahead with the car, and if so, in what form, as a number of revisions were on the cards.

Rest assured we'll let you know more when the men with the Yen have made their minds up.

Wasn't there a guy from the USA involved with VEMAC?

Hope they build it!

Some guy from the state of Washington.

Maybe they should sell the VEMAC to Honda and have them build it as a smaller NSX. The VEMAC could be to Honda what a Dino is to Ferrari...

Then VEMAC would be able to tap into Honda's resources!

Great idea--but I doubt it will ever happen :frown:

Too bad though. The car has all the right looks the reviews have been positive.

The car should have been built on a larger scale. What about the Farboud?

I hope I got the spelling right...

The Farboud
Ugly from the side - those scoops suck
And a lack of 2 cylinders.
VEMAC brilliant idea
probably the wrong engine. It dont get on my 'most wanted' list 'cos you know the engine should be the 2l. Or even better the whole NSX drivetrain.

I am with you regarding the 2.0 litre. Can't give the Vemac the NSX engine--price would get too close to the NSX then.
This car should be built in volume to show the world that there are real alternatives to the Elise and Boxster!

My point about the NSX engine was that it would add the 'class' that A 4cyl doesn't have and perhaps justify the high price. The performance may be great now, but not percievably better than an elise at a fraction of the cost.

Just re-read my June 2002 EVO. Does the new VEMAC have the s2000 engine? Are they selling many? Can we buy engineless cars for the USA?

Hi Harley,

As per my posting a few down from this, spoke to Vemac a few weeks back and they're basically waiting for their Japanese backers to make their minds up what they want to do.

We'll let you all know when we know - whenever that is...

Tell them to make the VEMAC and sell it engineless in the USA so it doesn't need to be crashed and drive up the costs!

Car and Driver had a feature on 10 Japanese cars that we can't get in the USA. I know the VEMAC is a mix of Japanese/UK technology--wish VEMAC had received the plug--has BBC Top Gear ever tested one?

Make that nearly 3 months, GB!

Are they building them in South Africa like Noble?

Are they even building them?
