Favourite Australian muscle car (lots of pics Dial Uppers..)
Discussion
Don’t know if it interests any one but I stumbled across all these Ford Performance Vehicle (FPV) videos of Australian muscle cars through the years and current cars. I thought they where quite good:

Jungles said:Yeah, DOHC’s as well and not pushrod. Isn’t this based on the same engine as the Rover 75 V8?
I was under the impression that the V8 engine was imported, like the HSV ones, but apparently that is wrong.

It's the Ford modular V8 as seen in the mustang and some trucks and SUVs, and the Koenigsegg, Rover 75 V8 and loads of other cars, all slightly different of course, but the same basic engine.

It is imported, at least in the base 220kW version from Canada. The Performance 260kw+ version uses the imported 5.4L block with the imported DOHC heads from the 4.6L Mustang, most of the other parts like the inlet manifold, air intakes, cams etc are made locally.

So how did it happen Rover came across that engine and not the more powerful one offered down here, cost?
Edit: Capital R in Rover.

I was in SA in '83, little place called Port Lincoln. drove various fords but mainly Holdens like the EF and FE which belonged to my friend Felix. Used to paint murals on the Panos for beer money. (sighs) those were the days, sun sand and aussie babes... Oh and the cars too of course. I will try to dig out the old photos and scan them in at some point.
I thought I would resurrect a stupidly old thread rather than start a new one.
I’ve been in love with the Mad Max Pursuit Special Ford Falcon ever since seeing the film as a kid when I was far too young to be watching it.
I came across this short video from a month ago, this one’s got an actual working belt driven supercharger (unlike the movie car which just had a prop), I just think it’s the coolest and most awesome sounding thing:

Has anyone on here ever imported (or not if you’re in Aus) a Ford Falcon and built a Pursuit Special replica?

There can only ever be one winner.

It’s 1983. I’m 6 years old. DJ is flinging the big Falcon up the Mountain, setting the timing screens on fire during the Top Ten Shootout. At Forest Elbow he clips the wall on the exit and cuts a new path through the trees, writing the car off in the process.
What follows is an all-nighter by the mechanics to build a replacement race car for the following morning. Rumour has it that the paint was still wet as Dick Johnson made his way to the grid.
