My mum did the same thing a year ago and was going to get the Citreon but none of the dealers would do any deals at the time due to 'supply' issues, allegedly the demand outweighed the supply! rofl

I have a quick surf around and found a handfull of ex-demo 107's at various locations, after a few phone calls and playing one against the other managed to get her a 6 month old ex-demonstrator with 850 miles on the clock for £4500.

She was so happy when I picked it up and took it down to her that she gave me her old car as a thank you....... 'N' reg Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 Auto with...... 30,000 mile on the clock! It had 14,000 on the clock when she got it 8 years ago. So on that basis, and the fact she has said she has only filled it up 3 times in the last year biglaugh I think I may be looking at getting a very low mileage one in a few years for bargain bucks

£5400 maybe but not £4500 a year back - no way from a main dealer

No straight up £4500, guess it was one of those right time right place moments, they had it at £5200 to start with, played them against another dealer who had a similar model, both knocked off £400 before we even started serious bartering. Finally went back to the dealer I got it from and gave them the other dealers best price, the young sales guy said he would call me back after speaking to his sales manager. Transpired the car was at the end of its demo life and had to go, guy came back and said if I paid deposit there and then and collected it within 48hrs I could have it for £4500, tore his arm off.

for that to be true a year back the dealer must have been having a funny turn.

check autotrader now and there are no cars even privately for less than £4900, there is only one at £4600 and thats a Cat D

to have got a (brand new model car within 3-4 months of launch) worth £7350 for £4500 seems almost unbelievable

My son got a C1 at the end of February. The deal he got was pretty good, Citroen were doing a cashback offer (think it was £1100) on the 3 door Vibe model (very basic) plus a £300 part exchange cashback. He got offered £600 for his shagged out Corsa + £300 cashback + £200 if he took it before the end of the month (the Fiat dealer next door offered £200 against a brand new Grande Punto). He ended up with a payment of £85/month for two years with a £3900 final payment.
So far the car has been great, good fuel consumption, nippy enough around town and quite fun to drive. It is also roomy for such a small car, the boot is tiny but I can sit in the back OK and I'm 6'3".

Is air-con a worthwhile option with such a small engine? What revs is the engine doing in 5th at 70mph?

Check insurance groups under the new 1-50 system - for some reason they're all different despite being the same car.

Where can I find this? As it's a first car, the lower the insurance group, the better.

Thanks,

This page lets you search for the insurance group.

Bump again!

Watched a neighbour drive off in their 2013 C1 yesterday and realised that these have always been under my radar.

But these days I drive a Dacia, so maybe my age smile

Just looked on Autotrader thinking that they'd cost pennies, so wrong.

2013s seem to be £4k to £5k, jeez! how much were these new?

Well was thinking a cheap throwaway city car that my son could learn to drive in.

I'll just sort his Oyster card instead.

PS I know there's older versions but being in London I need ULEZ compliant.

Circa 10k but with deals you could get well under.

I personally wouldn't buy an old one. They are abused, care worn now.

I drove a later 67plate 1.0 Aygo 4 up from Manchester to Central Paris.

Such a lovely little thing. I have a thing for small cars. I can drive anything but will always have a sweet spot for one of these.

That is amazing that a 2013 can cost nearly half what it was new though.

I thought the usual formula was half its price by year 3.

If you go to the Shed thread you'll find them generally recommended as reliable, cheap to run and cheap to fix - although opinions differ on the quality of the driving experience.
Our 2008 flew through its last MOT ('Good as gold' was the tester's comment), still looks respectable and has been completely reliable for the last few years.
There will be plenty of shagged ones out there, but the answer as always is to buy on condition.
