RE: SOTW: Clio Williams
Discussion
The Clio Williams, in all it's guises, is a serious bit of kit, and too many, an all time Legend of a motor car.
Some people may look down their noses at it, thinking it is some kind of chavved up 1.2 RN, but they soon set about Google'ing, learning all about the car that just humiliated their 30k lardwagon through the twisties
There are many that have not been cared for, and with any old performance car, will usually need a good dose of TLC to bring it back to its former glory. Most of the things are quite simple jobs, but be warned: The engine bay is TIGHT. It's a small car with a big ol' engine, so jobs like headkasket, waterpump and cambelts can be fiddly enough to have you cursing as you nurse bruised knuckles.
As long as it has been looked after, high mileage isn't that big an issue with the F7R engine. General wear and tear is inevitable, but regular servicing will minimise the cost.
The standard 16 valve Clio is also a fine car, sharing the same chic looks etc, but not the 2.0L engine, or front widetrack. In reality, there is little difference whilst doing the daily grind, and the 'valver' is a very quick car when on the boil, almost as quick as the williams...but not quite on the same par...the valver came in a far greater variety of colours than the standard blue and gold combinitation of the 'Willy', some superb examples can be found at www.clio16valver.co.uk
If you want to feast on some fine advice and lovely Williams Clio's, then www.williamsclio.co.uk is the place to be...
My 2 cents.

And yes my opinion still remains. Its fugly.
I am selling a Williams 2 with blown engine. Am trying to get an Advert on here but its not having it for some reason.
The bottom end has seized can use the megane 2.0 16v block to repair which are more common.
Its the 710 megane block that can be used there the early ones, then bolt the williams head on.
I bought from a mate who needed it removing from his ex's drive asap but I am not going to have time to repair.
Keep an eye out on here for advert or message me Millerbaz at hotmail . com for some photos.
Am looking for about £600 ish for it am in Derby.
Cheers
Managed to get Advert up and running http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/610023.htm

Let's clear this up:
400 Willy 1's that came to UK. They had 'Williams' in gold along the sides and back, and a gold plaque with their numerical designation on the dashboard, 2 & 3's did not.
And I know that one of those Series 1 RHD cars made it all the way to Singapore (in a container i suspect rather than under its own steam ...) because its kept about 5 parking bays from my car .... 400 Willy 1's that came to UK. Daily driven and very nice too!
