did beaulieu, last september, some superb cars their and stopping off at haynes,a week on monday on my way to dorset hopefully
beaulieu is a bit run down and the exhibits dont change, haynes is v. small

brooklands is about the best, as its got cars + f1 + planes - especially as you can now combine with a trip to merc world

Went to Coventry couple of months ago, I enjoyed it - plus it was free to get in.

We had a few days down south back in Feb and I badgered the missus into going to Beaulieu for a look as I hadn't been there since I was a kid.

stacks of really old cars that I'm not really that bothered about

I went a few weeks ago - Bank Holiday Monday - nothing but queues and crowds everywhere (to be expected, of course, but I didn't have any choice on the date...).

Pretty good, nevertheless, and I plan on going back again, mid-day, mid-week, and mid-winter, so that I can take my time, and get some better photos, without being constantly barged in to by numpties...

Good variety - some stuff that didn't turn my crank at all, but loads that did.

Should we just guess which place you are talking about? hehe

My vote is for Beaulieu.

OK - Brooklands on Monday = Great open air wander around, with some interesting machinery in various buildings.
Haynes on Wednesday = A bit claustrophobic but a chance to see some of my boyhood dreams on show.
Spent too much on petrol so will give Coventry a miss, but if the good weather holds out I may get to Beaulieu on Friday

Ah, I didn't know about that one but have just Googled it and discovered it's the one where Brum's filmed.

Now I have an excuse to go as my 2 year-old daughter's obsessed with Brum.

Cheers!

Ooops - can't believe I did that rolleyes

Although it could possibly apply to both Gaydon or Haynes, it was indeed Haynes...

Very old thread resurrection!

We are planning a trip to the Gaydon motor museum on Saturday. Driving down from Southport, Merseyside.

Has anyone been lately? Is it worth a visit? Any other closer museums that would be a better bet?

Thanks!

Get the ferry from Liverpool or Heysham to the Isle Of Man and visit the superb museum at Jurby.

Best I've been to for diversity and accessibility of vehicles.

Lovely cafe with home made food on offer too.

Thanks, what a great idea, I’ve never been to the IoM even though it is so close! I’ll check ferries.

Great username btw, I used to love my old racing blue 200!
