Anyone else like old lorries?

While trawling through my photos for the War pics thread I came across this pic:



which is my old boss dealing with a big dodgy bomb on a truck in Northern Ireland in 1980. However, my first thought was: "Oooh nice ERF B Series and Leyland Marathon".

Anyone else share this sad interest I have in old lorries?

Don't share your interest myself, but some of the inlaws do. However, I mainly replied in order suggest a holiday in Malta/Gozo if you enjoy vintage lorries.

Hateful road. Not been on it since they apparently made the no "lorries in lane 2" rule permanent. Are they actually obeying it now?

Is that a Pioneer? I quite fancy a Crusader recovery truck. Plus thats about the most manly name for any vehicle ever - Scammell Crusader. (Or is it Thorneycroft Nubian?)

Worringly i also buy Classic Commercial, Old Glory and Classic Plant and Machinery

Drove one of these a couple of times after getting class 2 in the TA.

Only a fairly uninformed interest, but as a true petrolhead anything with an engine could develop into an obsession. Wheels are an added bonus, but I can even identify with those beardy blokes who are into stationary engines.

My brother used to run a Bedford TK flatbed way back when and on occasion dropped me off to primary school in it - far cooler way to arrive than the usual Mk3 Cortinas and Allegros...I was the envy of the playground!

Excellent machine.

The fuel economy is for crap, but if you want to pull a broken tank out of a very muddy field, I'd guess there's no substitute.
