Sorry for thread resurrection, but I came across these images I took a few years back in a Belgium car museum. Ever seen anything like it?

apparently used for washing the streets of Paris, and still in use in the late 60s.

Was it left behind by the departing Germans in '44? I know the French army were the last operational users of the Panther tank - also snaffled from the kartenkopfs.

Bit of a thread resurrection, but I thought some of you might be interested to see what i've just bought:

Its a 1977 Dennis D Series fire engine, formerly Devon Fire Brigade. A previous owner has replaced the tanks, pumps and upper body with a box body from an old BR crew truck and converted it to living accommodation.

I'm going to go exploring in it and use it as a camper. Maybe hang around music festivals, conning hippy chicks into thinking that I care, I really really care.....

I bloody love things like this! biggrin
I know someone with a Foden complete with the FH70.I love the fact it has a VW powerplant to power the FH70 about.
eek Do you need a FAC for that, or has it been de-activated? Pigeon problem, pesky pikeys messing up your land, rabbits eating your crops? When I have a pest problem I reach for the ultimate solution; 155mm gun howitzer, for when nothing less than total annihilation will do...hehesmokin

ETA I have an irrational desire to own some old iron, although they were all pretty unpleasant to drive for a living; my fantasy garage has a sizeable heavy haulage section including a Commer Maxiload TS3, Foden FD6, Albion CX24 and Clansman, Sentinel S6, and AEC Militant Mk3.

That was my first thought but something didnt seem right. However, I'll have to have a look at some pics because you're probably correct.

Definitely a MK4/5 Cortina, think it's a mk4 because of short bumper, or Taunus which was the European name.

That's a great looking truck. I also love the coach behind it, it looks like the one in The Italian Job, can't remember the name of it off hand.
