RIP and thanks for the fun
Dickie M always has had a knack for the right words.

I may have disagreed with PW's philosophies, but without him the car market would have been a much duller place. We need variety and individuality, and we need people with vision and the courage to pursue it...so my tribute is that I fervently hope he's not the last of his kind in the industry!!!

RIP...

Stunned , in my view he created some of greatest british cars of all time and those in turn
have given great pleasure and joy to so many including myself. My thoughts go out to his family.

Just learned this, and quite shocked and saddened.

All I can say, is well done Peter for what you created during your time at the helm of what was a very special company, making special cars, for people that felt (feel) special when driving them. The Speed 12 will stay with me as the most outrageous car I have ever seen in the skin. 64 is no age at all, but as has been said above, what a life!!

RIP Peter. I guess you are reunited with the dog that designed the Chimaera again.

Never agreed with the way I was treated as a customer, but thankyou for giving me 4 TVRs, allowing me to experience performance I thought I'd never be able to afford at the time. The memories of those, especially my first, I'll take to my own grave.God rest you.

Very sad day...without him there probably wouldn't even of been a Pistonheads. Those TVRs that he created were unlike any car ever created...Thank you Mr Wheeler for all the enjoyment you brought to us all.

This is a sad time for his family and my thoughts go out to them.
He brought in an era of TVR's that were exciting, mad and very cool that will live on for a long time.

May you rest in peace Peter

A huge loss. A true British maverick. He made the cars that no one else would ever make - and inspired many other companies, large and small.

For a small British car manufacturer to design and build their own engines - especially ones that perform so well - truly awesome !

Of course lots of people disagreed with him - if he had been the same as everyone else he couldn't have built those cars.....

A man who actually achieved something, and will be remembered - top geezer.

RIP and condolences to his family.

RIP cry

The man was a triumph of the individual over committee and was responsible for some amazing cars, themselves the reason we originally came together on PH smile
