Can I be the bass player for that band that has to stay in orbit round the planet?
Also, I want to source some new switches for my TVR. They must be black, and light up in black on a black background...

Christ, must be 25 years since I read that book.....ldfartsmiley:

I've got the complete Hitchhikers all in 1 book. A trilogy in 5 parts !!

I've got to say too, if you look around, you'll find a little known book called "Last chance to see" where Douglas took about a year off from writing (unlike him) and went round the world with a zoologist looking at rare and endangered species.........

Adams once said that it was the book he was most proud of !!

You could also visit www.zz9.org/ which is the official HHG2TG site.

Slartibartfarst, I read somewhere that Adams came up with that name by starting with Fartiphukborlz and making it less rude.

Having just seen Pirate of the Carribean I would have to recommend Johny Depp as Zaphod.

Has to be less than 25 years. The radio series where it all started was broadcast in April 1978. I can remember it as if it were yesterday. Blew me away. Then the book came out and it became a mass phenomenon.

It's such a huge pity Adams isn't still around to enjoy the fruits of it.

"And you'd better be prepared for the jump into hyperspace. It's unpleasantly like being drunk."

"Well, whats so bad about being drunk?"

"You ask a glass of water."

Brilliant

I just hope they don't make a mess of it in the film.

Definitely Johnny Depp for Zaphod!

UURRRHGGHHH!! I'll never be cruel to a Gin and Tonic again.

Quality. I must admit that I'm a bit dubious that they'll do justice to it. I hope they do.
Johnny Depp, however is a good call. His stock went up in my estimation after watching Pirates. He really was quality in that. I think he will be a great Willy Wonka!

Hip-hop star gets Hitchhiker role

Hip-hop star Mos Def is to star in the film version of Douglas Adams' novel The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.
He will appear as Ford Prefect, the alien who takes earthling Arthur Dent - played by The Office's Martin Freeman - on a strange galactic trip.

Director Garth Jennings begins shooting in April, from a script that writer Karey Kirkpatrick took over after the sudden death of author Adams in 2001.

Mos Def's move to acting includes roles in The Italian Job and Monster's Ball.

Admittedly he's all wrong for the part, but I enjoyed his character in The Italian Job....he can do funny.

I don't see the point of a movie; the television series was perfect.

I think the radio version was better. Even bought a copy of the scripts (saw them in passing in smiffs)

Be interesting how this is all brought to the screen.
