As the title says , i saw one of these recently and thought it was just some chav do up ( i actually like it) and was shocked when i can across it on the internet. I mean boy does it look awesome or what?

So can anyone enlighten me on the car? Anygood?

I don't see how it offers any benefit over a nice - cheaper - 330ci Sport.

I've always been interested in these. I like the idea of slightly lower weight and some bespoke colours, but I've never liked the fussy split-rim alloys or dodgy spoiler. IIRC they were quite expensive and so that possibly explains why you don't see many about, but I believe in Europe you could get the Clubsport spec with other engines rather than just the 3.0 as in the UK.

Oh, and I also never forgave BMW for offering the ZHP engine upgrade in the US and not Europe.

Used to have one of these.

No quicker than a standard 330 but IMO always felt a lot more special. The wheels and front splitter used to get a lot of looks plus I love Estoril Blue which you could not get as standard on a regular 330.

I got mine because second hand it was no more than a standard 330 but felt more exclusive.

The rear spoiler is a but chav though but you can (like the one I had) get them without sometimes.

Oh and if you do get one watch those front splitters on curbs!

Didn't the ZHP upgrade just bring the US model upto the spec of the Euro 330i anyway?

Love them. If I had to get a 'normal' e46 again, I'd wait until I could find a decent Clubsport.

Waste of money when new, but the price differential is very little now against a standard 330.

Bit of weight saving (20kg - mostly sound insulation, so you might actually be able to hear that straight six...), corner splitters, Marmite boot spoiler (I love it biggrin), different wheels and the fact that nearly all are Estoril Blue (or are they all??) - mean that it's a winner in my books.

It's basically a slightly special 330ci. Well worth holding out for one now that it doesn't come with the £5k extra cost.

Can't quite remember now exactly, but I believe the ZHP package was similar to the Clubsport package in Europe. I think the ZHP got 235bhp opposed to the standard US car's 225bhp and the Euro car's 231bhp. I'm pretty sure the ZHP and Clubsport shared the same suspension settings, although there were some other differences between the two - the ZHP never got the front splitters etc. and I don't think it had the 20kgs of sound deadening removed either.

I think they officially came in Estoril Blue, Velvet Blue (a kind of purple blue) and silver but most seem to be in Estoril and I have also seen a black one.

Loved the stubby gearlever!

I doubt there is much in the price spec for spec vs a standard.

They came well equipped as standard with leather and electric seats etc

Still miss mine...

I'm also on the hunt for a decent (manual) one of these at the moment, but finding a facelift one with low miles and the upgraded sound system is proving tricky!

Hmmm, electric seats... That should offset the benefit of the sound deadening removal nicely....!

IMHO, I think a standard 330 with MV1s looks better, and I personally think the marmite spoiler looks completely ste.
I really can't see these ever becoming truly sought-after classics - I reckon a contemporary Alpina would hold it's value far better in time...

I like them. The engine is a peach and although the rear spoiler is a bit marmite, overall the car looks good IMO.

As has been said, new, the price for what you got was a bit extortionate, but now they have dropped they seem to offer a nice alternative to a 330ci. It may not be a massive weight saving over the 330ci, but dynamically its a very good car

I had one for a few years in Estoril Blue. They do attract a lot of attention and you do not see too many about.

Just beware that if you break a rim or damage the spoiler (someone hacksawed mine off - kid you not) then you have to go into a dealer with your logbook to get a replacement sent over from Germany. Or you did in my time.

Don't recall they are any more powerful than a standard 330, but if you want something a bit different then go for it.

I had one from new for 60000miles and 3 years, great all round car but no real difference to a standard 330 apart from the looks, i personally loved them!

Only problems i had were a new coil pack early on, and i ended up having the front spoiler and all 4 split rims replaced under w-tee

The problem with the wheels is a common known fault, the laquer splits and water gets under, i ended up changing them for the MV's on the advice of my dealer.
