Ferrari F40.

Not as nice as the 288 GTO nor as special.
Apparently not as good to drive as the 288 GTO.
Not as well built or well engineered as the Enzo or F-50.
Over 1,300 built when it was supposed to be limited production.
Not a successful racer.
Proper Ferraris shouldnt have turbos (which is what everyone on here cries about when Ferrari talk about going turbo to cut emissions)
No creature comforts (it is a road car not a race car after all)
Has less power than a modern BMW 4x4

And it is the most overhyped car in the whole wide world because it is trendy to like them.

Ferrari F-40 =/= BMW 335d mapped but at least the BMW335d mapped can take you to do your shopping.

Really though, the old Kia Rio was dire.
You ever actually been in one at full chat?

Rover 400 / 45

200 & 45 are no better ... but at least they had an excuse .. they were a Rover

The 400 & 45 were 5 door Civic's that Rover somehow managed to build badly

That is one of the funniest posts I've read all day. Thanks for cheering me up.
The Kia RIO was dire... that's all I'm going to agree with!

I briefly had one of these sheds...luckily for me it committed hari kari on the M5 by throwing it's cambelt.

The GTI/Edition 30 are a great hot-hatch too. Pretty brisk in DSG form. Would take an ED30 over a Focus ST every day of the week for driving pleasure, even if the engine note is a bit lacking. That's my only real gripe with the GTi- that and the lack of LSD.

Surprised no one has mentioned the Wartburg Knight. Always seemed to be very rusty the odd few I've ever saw.

no real basis for it but i always think if there was a "paedos car" it would be one of these.

My vote goes to the 1.7 Ital Estate.

Someone who votes the 1.7 Ital estate as the worst car ever has never driven an original Beetle or a trabant.

And on that point - my submission for the worst car ever built must be the original Beetle. Slow, noisy, uncomfortable, unreliable (but easily fixable) and not particularly practical. It was out of date when it was first built - let alone thirty years later. And like, to be fair, most cars of its generation, a complete and utter RUST trap.

BMW 1 series - utterly pointless IMO

If you need back seats then you need a 3 series.
If you don't need back seats then buy a Z4.

I always thought popular opinion was that the F50 was not as good as it's older conterpart?
Sure at the time many people didnt rate the NSX too well but look at how opinion has changed.

In comparison reviews now they always call the F-50 overlooked and seem impressed with it. I think its looks and peer pressure influenced the journalists more than actually driving the car.
I think it was more the case that journalists didn't really get much opportunity to test the F50 other than a few laps of Fiorano. It's only in the last few years that anything much at all has been written about the F50.

Anyway, it's all a bit OT as clearly both the F40 and F50 are at wrong end of the spectrum for this thread.

Of all the cars I have driven, I'm going to vote for the mk1 vectra. Awful thing.

Gutless, handled like the chassis was made from plasticine, uncomfortable and unsupportive seats and the steering and suspension joints failing.

I had a quick wiki to check the difference between an Ital and a Marina... and then I read this:

"Portuguese assembly

Although most Itals were manufactured in the UK, there were also Portuguese-assembled Itals (badged as Marina 1.5 D) which were all equipped with the ancient 1.5-litre B-Series diesel engine, producing 37 hp.[2] The British Leyland factory in Setúbal (IMA) then switched to producing the Mini Moke."

yikes If that is correct I can only imagine a 37hp diesel must have been an absolute dream to drive!! yum
