Also says the highlights will be 7 mins shorter.
Hopefully they'll take that out of the buildup, rather than the race

Mate I don't think sky care about the length of the intros.....at the end of the day the highlights package has to be a much reduced quality product than sky, otherwise what did they buy?

It will be the race.

"with around seven fewer minutes of action per race."

I have a feeling the C4 offering will be very good... I don't have Sky at all but my dad does and I just can't watch... for me Coulthard, Webber, Jones etc... They strike the right balance and hold my interest. Sky won't have control of the edit C4 broadcast. Sky don't have control of what they broadcast themselves... that's down to the incumbent broadcaster. If C4s race package is 7mins shy of what we have now I doubt it'll be noticed.
Don't forget there is other bolt on stuff between the C4 and Sky, box sets and productions by one appearing on the others platform. It's not in Sky's interests to try and dictate the quality of C4's highlights package.
I think us refusneniks will be fine. I'll be glad when Sky's deal ends. It's not what Liberty Media wanted but what they inherited. They have no control of their product in the UK.

I'm not going to worry much about going to highlights only, I have never paid to watch F1 on Sky and was surprised to see the Sky one broadcast in Brazil.

Curious, I watched the full race on there and found the commentary team put me off, negativity seemed rife.

If it hadn't been free I would have stopped watching and waited for the highlights show with people who sound as if they know what they are doing.

True the Welsh Wizzard can get on yer nerves too but he isn't a factor in the race commentary so hearing the Whisper Films product can be heard, same day but later has eased my mind.

Roll on next year, is March very far away dad?

I think it will be interesting what the level of C4 coverage in highlights form is like next year - i have a feeling it will be pretty close to the normal highlights only races they've run this year but shortened race footage (as mentioned above) and they'll probably scale back any build up & race review with more of that being available online later on.

By the way the team were talking at the end of the coverage you got the impression a couple of them will be absent next year - i reckon the exception will be Steve, David & Ben but possibly Karun too. I believe Susie is already off to a role in FE next year isn't she & Lee has already been fronting C4's rugby coverage, plus with it being a restricted highlights package (and the way he was thanking everyone) i don't think we'll see Mark frown

Sounds about right but can they afford to have karen in a highlights package. The one think I was looking forward to is being spared his interminable uncle albert level of blather in fp1/fp2/fp3 etc etc.

No matter what the format I just keep hoping for a Webber Raikkonen interview. The longest ever questions with the shortest ever answers.

Karun Chandhok off to Sky now. Just how many ex-F1 drivers do Sky need?

That's a real shame, i liked him and he also made mention of Knockhill (my local circuit) on the C4 coverage once, I was surprised he'd heard of it.

I think Karun is very good.

Knowledgeable and nice presenting style.

I don’t be paying to watch Sky any time soon.

karun is great as a presenter/ contributor.
On the question of Sky vs C4, I have the opportunity to watch both and I choose the C4 programme every time when the race is broadcast live.

The Sky production is good, but the "not too serious" style from C4 (whilst still being informative) betters it.

“Channel 4's live and free-to-air coverage of the 2019 British Grand Prix will not be made up of Sky Sports' programming, with a deal having been struck between the British broadcasters over the sharing of Formula 1 rights, GPFans has learned.”

Love the way pages put "learned" when what they mean is that they read it from another site a few weeks before.

Best place for details on UK F1 TV is here - https://f1broadcasting.co/ - most other sites just rehash what is written there first IMO.
