I think Karun is very good.

Knowledgeable and nice presenting style.

I don’t be paying to watch Sky any time soon.
karun is great as a presenter/ contributor.
On the question of Sky vs C4, I have the opportunity to watch both and I choose the C4 programme every time when the race is broadcast live.

The Sky production is good, but the "not too serious" style from C4 (whilst still being informative) betters it.
I think it is what you are used to. When I was out in India they showed all the races in full (from 5 minutes before the start to just after the chequered flag) with the C4 commentary team. I much preferred getting back to Sky once home.

That's an interesting signing; he comes across well in interviews etc so hopefully he'll add some good insight. Also good to see C4 are adding/replacing (I guess Karun out, Billy in) to their team, opposed to just letting things dwindle away. Not sure the article is 100% correct though; I thought Lee was done with F1 all together; article suggests she'll still be going to some races.

ETA just read the Motorsport Broadcasting where they talk about Lee changing her mind. Good to see.

Good to hear that Lee has changed her mind and with Karun jumping to Sky, Billy Whizz will be a good replacement.

oh come on he's a bit insipid. A bit wet. And is he old enough to know anything?

If any other 20 year old who had never raced in F1 had been signed up there would have been a slew of negative comments. He doesn't know enough to contribute anything meaningful.

I was going to post a comment asking why. I did think I'd be lambasted though, so I didn't bother.

Let's face it, the only reason he is known so well is because of his accident. Yeah, that wasn't nice, but he was partaking in a risky sport and knew the consequences.

You’re right. It’s ridiculous. Being subjected to Chandhok’s witterings on sky makes it all the worse.

I’m at a loss to understand the decision making process that results in these decisions.

popularist.

I'm not saying no young person could do it. But he has just seemed a bit wet behind the ears whenever I've seen him on telly having someone shake his hand.

Hmm, that doesn’t bode well. My wife has just made me turn the sound down to stop Chandhok’s endless droning on.

You can hardly hear the cars anyway, so no loss.

How can you be insightful if you have never experienced the sport? OK he has been in lower formula but that doesn’t qualify you to comment on F1 professionally

Murray Walker wasn’t roaming the pit lane having technical conversations though was he?

What an odd comparison. Chalk and cheese.

Walker served his time commentating on various motorsports for almost 30 years before he got the F1 job. Even then he stuck to what he knew how to do and always had help for the technical view.

To the contrary, Billy has no experience or track record in anything that warrants any form of commentary role in F1.

I like Chandhok droning on, as at least while he is talking, Crofty is silent, thank goodness.

Jesus Christ. He's going to be doing a part-time pundit role whilst (hopefully) competing in single-seaters elsewhere. How about you give him a chance before writing him off.

Daft decision - trying to pander to the yoofs. He is probably cheap.

And ticks an 'inclusivity' box

I didn't know that was the role C4 had in mind for monger?

I wouldn't say he is there for "the yoofs" or his disability, he's just "on trend" at the moment.
