Channel 4 news tonight. None of that "Turn over if you don't want to know who won" nonsense, oh no. "Jos Verstapen wins ..." were the first words spoken in the sports round up. No-one can hit mute fast enough to avoid a ruined evening.
Didn't realise his dad was still racing.

Last thing to watch would be the News, shirley?
I can see how it's easy to do. I usually miss the first couple of minutes of the coverage because it starts exactly on time and I will not have the channel selected while there's any risk of me catching the end of the news, which is when they usually do the sports results. My normal habit would be to select the channel I want 15 - 20 minutes before the program I want to watch is scheduled to start so I have to resist that urge, and hope I remember to switch over on time because by then it's a guarantee that I've gotten bored and found something else to do.

Is that so that the TV's tube can warm up and you can adjust the rabbit ears before the programme starts?

Don't forget the vertical and horizontal hold--they are buggers to adjust sometimes.

I'm old, but not TV tube old hehe

It's because I'll get bored, distract myself and miss the start (which is why I keep missing the start of the Formula 1 coverage on Channel 4)

Anyone know why Ben Edwards is back? A one off?

It could be Alex Jacques has to self isolate, like Steve Jones, because Billy monger tested positive for COVID.

Ahhh, didn’t realise Billy and Steve were missing (switched the highlights on after Q1). Thanks.

Assuming Billy monger will have to spend all 10days self isolating in Austria, and hopefully get a negative test before flying back to UK

I’m so impressed with how BM has dealt with losing his lower legs, but I can’t see what he brings to F1 commentary at all.

He's turned out quite a bit better than I thought he would on the comms front.

Bit of a pundit shakeup this weekend.
Steve needs a rest anyway after his interview with prost last week. Prost seemed a bit bemused by the cartoon character he was confronted with.
Most people play along but one day you meet that intelligent sensible grownup and.....

Rylan must surely be a threat to Steve now.

Let’s call it what it is - diversity quota. Having said that, although his voice grates on me and he’s got a very punchable face, I’m still pleased C4 have him an opportunity. He’s a young lad with insane determination and is getting better at adapting to his new craft. His insight into some of the newer drivers has been interesting at time, he just needs to withdraw from his position inside LH and he’ll do alright.

I like BM, but his lack of experience in commentary, and no F1 racing experience means he sort of falls in no mans land between pundit and commentator. I think he has potential to be good in a strategy analysis role, but when C4 are only showing highlights there’s limited space for the in depth stuff like Sky can do.

I find Mark Webber most entertaining to listen to. He has an obscure slang term for just about everything which frequently makes me chuckle, he’s like Ozzy equivalent on Danny Dyer. It’s almost like he has a bet with DC to see if he can crowbar them into his commentary. There’s so many, but this week’s fave was describing a tyre change as “throwing on four new bags”. I’m going to use that next time I’m in Kwik Fit.
