What was all that with 3 Porsche's, Tom Cruise and Top Gun on C4's highlights tonight?!
It was a repeat of a piece they did for Silverston year or the year before. I assume it was repeated now because I heard through the grapevine that Tom Cruise has a new film out smile

It was rather good though even although I has seen it before.
It was absolute cringeworthy b*ll*cks... Very sorry you thought it was worthwhile viewing, but each to their own I guess
It was terrible and dragged on for far too long.

Who was actually driving the third car? Billy or someone else?

Cruise wasn't doing any of the actual driving which required a degree of skill. Every shot of him was close up. Sometimes you saw him moving his hands but not where the car was going.

To be fair, he's pretty handy behind the wheel.

Ah, I assumed he was the one that got the braking wrong and had to leave the track to avoid the collision (even though he is a relatively competent driver)...

I stand corrected. It was not the religious nutter...

Definitely not just you. It was doing my nut in too.
And mine!

They seemed to think it was ok to just let the viewer catch up off the back of the commentary. How hard would it have been to drop a quick bit of voiceover on it to catch the viewer up?

Edited by Swervin_Mervin on Monday 23 May 18:35
No need to update the viewers, just edit it so the adverts slot in around the action and the lap counter is forwarded on during quieter moments of the race.

I’ve begun to wonder lately whether Sky are involved somehow in sabotaging the C4 production.

Maybe it was. I don't know 100% it wasn't.

All i'm saying is that every shot was super close-up and it didn't really feel like it was him based on what he was doing with his hands.

Pfft. Next you'll be saying it's not him flying multi million dollar fighter jets in Top Gun, I mean, he's sitting a plane so he must be flying it...

Do they still have to mention SKY SPORTS in every show - i seem to remember them doing that last year as part of a contractual requirement

i'm surprised sky want to bother allowing this show to exist, they have their own freeview channel (Pick) so could rebrand that as Sky FreeView and run their own highlights package (+ other shows) that they run on NOW TV's SKY SHOWCASE channel.

I guess if C4 are willing to pay...............why not take the cash and let them run around the paddock pretending its "live"

I also thought it was a right cringy load of absolute bo**ocks which was getting right in ghe way of watching the Spanish GP which was what ghe actual tv prog was supposed to be about.
I just wanted to fast forward straight through (we always watch recorded to skip adverts) but swmbo wanted to watch Cruisefrown

t probably served a useful purpose though - the amount of the race highlights they can show is directly related to the overall programme length, so they have to add a load of filler to make it worthwhile. Adding in a bit more padding means they can show more of the race.

Monaco qualifying @ 22:00... brilliant. irked
(Its not a night race & only a +1hr time difference)

Hopefully they cut out the non F1 related rubbish this weekend.
But there again... the Rich & famous love this one.

on at 20:15 to 22:00 on NOW TV's SKY SHOWCASE.

perhaps thats why C4 is so late these days, having to wait until sky shows its highlights on its Entertainment package (instead of exclusive to Sky Sports)

i'll be watching it i think rather than C4's rambling nonsense that i cannot stand until they actually get to the track action.

I think Sky has a lot more 'rambling nonsense' than C4.

It was 19:15 to 21:00, I just caught Q3. It didn’t seem to be edited down much, if at all. Will try Now TV again in future. The race highlights on Sky Showcase tomorrow are only 60mins, so C4 will be better for the main event.

The answer you're all looking for is to view every session live, in full and instant repeat on F1TV pro.

And you even get the choice between the sky commentary feed or the F1 feed.

And all the other red button stuff full paying Sky customers enjoy.

And the full back catalogue of F1 sessions going back decades.

And F2, F3, PSC too.

And its about £70 for the year.

yes

...and it won't be long before F1TV will be renewing its contract for an English language TV production company to supply that part of its feed.

Two contenders......

Sky (who are making it work because they have exclusive live rights in UK....ooops)

Whisper (who are delivering a product to a standard on a budget against the odds).

So who produces the default F1TV feed? And is that just for the app and just in the UK or all English speaking nations?

If it's F1's own production it would seem like they could boot sky from the world feed as soon as the contract expires.

Seems pretty clear to me that liberty's end game is to fully produce their own content and distribute it via their own app/stream.
