Hi folks,
As part of my glass button kit I've got the seat tilters (the ones mounted to the edge of the dashboard) - has anyone replaced these? The console ones are easy, I think these will require a little bit of trim unclipping.

I've search a few forums but most are turning up nothing.... I'll be taking pics and writing how-to's again if nobody knows smile

Thanks

Hi ds2000 - mine arrived yesterday... how did you end up replacing the seat tilt buttons?

I had the same problem and ended up leaving the plasic ones installed. So if anybody knows how to extract them I would be happy to know.

I have a fix for the problem that when you change the plastic comfort button with the glass sport button the red Led lights the wrong way: car in comfort led on, car in sport mode led off.
I developed an inverter for the led which solves his problem.

Cheers

Sports seats or Lightweight Seats?

They are different - in the seat headrest in the Sports seats and in the side of the dash on the Lightweights.

Not that I have bought any glass buttons for the seats but I am tempted as my factory glass button set didn't include the seat or glovebox button. Tempted to do them myself if there is a simple FAQ available - but needs to be for the Lightweights please!

apparently, use a socket to knock the middle push button into the seat cavity (breaking the switch) and extract the bits cleanly. Then install the new one.

Yes, that's the way it is done. Socket sized for the button diameter, tap in with a hammer. Bezel can then be removed and the switch fished out and unplugged. Plug in new switch and push into place.

I couldn’t bring myself to use a socket and hammer redface so tried a few other ways. I was successful using a screw driver to prise the bezel of the switch, working my way round. One switch came out complete, one separated and just the front part of the switch came out. It was then just a matter of using a pair of long nosed pliers to pull the rear part of the switch out. Used one of my plastic trim tools to protect the leather on the seat.

While I absolutely understand this mod and I am in no way critical about it (I might even do it too!), it is somewhat very OCD to swap a switch that basically no one ever see, let alone touch! biggrin

Depends which ones you have, the sports seats have them in-yer-face on the top side of the seat, just below the headrest!
