Only on this thread would someone be criticized for trying to make steps in the right direction (in their opinion). Lots of posters seem to think if you don't reach perfection, there is no point doing anything.... Really?

^ agreed.

Give everything up or just remain the same. It's the average generic human response to subconscious change and awareness on matters new. PH was never going to be a place to prove this otherwise!

Back on track; driver of the day today. Vettel can't handle the heat - or the rain ironically. Silly silly boy; pulling left like that in those conditions. Feel for Max. Kimi also didn't too much wrong IMO.

Errrr. Alrighty then...
"Hamilton said his family's medical history had been an influence in his decision, with heart disease and cancer prevalent among his ancestors.

"I don't want in 10 or 20 years to have diabetes or catch any of that stuff," he said."

Of course, being vegan doesn't guarantee any of that. In fact recent studies show that some vegan and vegetarian regimes lead to an increase of risk. For what these surveys are ever worth.

Anyway, a good sound bite I guess, especially from someone who contributes to pollution more than most of us as individuals do.

17.52 17/9/17. Lewis is live on Instagram, on Niki's 'plane with Niki and Toto, flying to Vienna and staying at Niki's house. Niki will be flying his 'plane later but says he likes to have a kip first.

Lewis reckon's there'll be no vegan or plant-based stuff either on his 'plane or at his house. smile

Rubbish. Studies the world over all agree: meat; especially red meat leads to increased risk of heart disease, cancer and many others 'ailments' aside. In any case; studies from almost every developed nation more or less agree on the effects of meat; especially excess amounts of it. Even sports people; previously convinced of the need for meat are now changing their diets to exclude it. Heck; even Arnie (who used to mock vegetarians every chance he got) has back-tracked. Hamilton is not unique in his thoughts.

Pretty pathetic clickbait title from the Guardian.

I think, on the whole, that anyone as physically fit as any modern F1 driver has to be, probably doesn't need to worry too much about that kind of thing. He does far riskier things every race.

Up to him at the end of the day, though, who really gives a toss?

Given the tone and attitudes on this thread, quite a lot of people, sadly.

I'm not sure how being an F1 driver with a private jet excludes him from trying to do a bit of good. Should I not bother recycling because I drive a TVR?!

It's been said time and time again but what exactly is it people want? 'We' moan about corporate mouthpieces with no character, we moan it's not like 'the good old days', but then 'we' tear a guy to pieces who dares to be an individual because 'we' don't agree with, like or understand the things that he does.

He's clearly not toeing the corporate line at times, he's clearly negotiated a contract where he is free to pursue his own interests, and considering his status in F1 has negotiated reduced corporate/PR responsibilities. He's doing his own thing as much as it's possible these days whilst at the same he is a genuine global megastar. All that would mean nothing if he didn't have the talent to back it up, it must frustrate some then that he is often untouchable out on track.

The witch hunt is shameful at times.

Clearly his new diet is working looking at the F1 drivers standings. I think he was resigned to being off the Podium and behind Seb again yesterday. Having navigated the carnage he was never going to let this chance slip.
I don't think for a minute that this is over yet unless he wins three or four on the bounce and I think most people want to see some great races for the rest of the season

That was "red mist" not red meat.

Vettel should have been given at least points on his licence for that move.

you should know that Ferrari do not race to the same rules as everyone else and that applies to their drivers too who are free to try and driver other competitors off the track without any penalty.

It was shocking. But it backfired.

Just a shame Verstappen, KImi and Alonso races were ruined by the plum frown

Amazed Lewis was not affected by the fluid out of the back of the Ferrari.

I think it was the radiator which ruptured so it was water not oil. I guess it spun the Ferrari because a deluge was being released right in front of the wheel, but on a track which was soaking wet anyway I doubt anyone behind even noticed.

They don't run neat water in the radiators. Coolant is incredibly slippery. I think it was mostly the fact that he was off line that meant the cars behind weren't affected.

Hmm, it would seem that F1 car coolant doesn't contain water at all; I assumed it was water based much like a road car!

Still, I doubt it's as slippery as oil would have been. smile

With the intensity of the rain and the subsequent laps under safety car / yellows, any spilled fluid would have washed away long before anyone could've slipped on it.
