Oh dear... it was a joke, a very poor one granted. "That's what Ali G says" kinda gives it away.

To be accurate wink
"The McLaren driver later apologised to the stewards for what he described as "a bit of a joke, which wasn't funny at the time". He said his emotions had been running high after another frustrating afternoon in which he had to suffer two drive-through penalties before finishing sixth while Sebastian Vettel moved closer to his second world title with another victory."

Context...

As Eddie Murphy might say, can't a black man make a joke?
Good, so we are agreed he said it.

As I said, I think he's much more comfortable with himself these days. That was an angry year for him and one of his most flawed on track.

I have no issue with Lewis, I think he is a genius driver.

eh?
Fear not Munt, it had me stumped too.
Jelly = an abbreviation of Jealous rolleyes

Of course one could have used the word envy, which is even easier and quicker to type than "Jelly", but not nearly so cool ....

PH, got to love it grumpy

Hairy Ben - I seem to remember dimly that you are a kiwi?

Jelly is antipdeon vernacular I believe?

Moaning about why he hasn't typed envy instead of jelly or jealous, and then using the 'this actively pisses me off' emoticon is equally PH

mad
A thoroughly British vintage of bog Irish, sicilian peasant and other stuff besides I'll have you know. Although mrs. Hairys aussie so theres no shortage of down under culture...

-
Jelly for all those needing their eyes dried is simply jealous with the bite removed, to indicate these thing dont *actually* bother me lest some petty minded twit try to make an issue of it. That worked well huh. Now isnt there a new shirtless picture of hamilton your repressed emotions should be compelling you to express your disgust and disaproval over?

Hamilton on Indy Car drivers

http://blackflag.jalopnik.com/lewis-hamilton-doesn...

After watching the whole race for the first time I have more respect for any driver deciding to race at Indy.

To be fair when 30 odd of them can't beat Sato and Chilton was close to winning, he might have a point...

Do you think Lewis would go there & clean up? The devil is in the detail Sato has spent a long time out there learning how to get the best from his car (he'd been doing well on the street circuits) on the Ovals.

I think the skills don't transfer between the two series.

I think what Hamilton was saying was he was surprised that Alonso was "only" 5th.

I was actually surprised he qualified that high, I know he had one of the best cars out there but before it started I thought he'd just about break the top 10.

I think anyone of Alonso or Hamilton's calibre could do well out there. Mansell won it at his first attempt (the championship not Indy) and was surprisingly good on the ovals.

I would like to see Lewis and Alonso do it for a couple of seasons together.... it would certainly get the rest of the world watching!

He won the Cart series a very different thing to what they drive now as well as the depth of drivers they now have, in F1 Sato was quick in the equipment he had but he's not come close to winning a championship in Indycars.

Now I'm not saying Sato is as good as Lewis/Fernando but I don't think they'd win a championship in their rookie season

Now Lewis to Indy for a year I would like to see.

It does seem that the older racers can remain competitive (?) so he has 10 years to consider it?

Yes, but bear in mind Lewis almost won the F1 WDC in his rookie year and I am sure Alonso might have done likewise had he had the equipment. These are two of the best there have ever been. I wouldn't bet against one of them taking the championship at their first attempt if things fell into place.

I'd say there are a few F1 drivers who could take the title over there in year one - Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso, Ricciardo. I'd even put a few quid on Kimi. If Button gave it a punt, I'd back him, too - I reckon his smoothness could be a big factor on the ovals.

I'm not sure about the oval races, but Indycar has a few "road courses" where he'd utterly embarrass the rest of the field.

LOL.

Honestly???

You really think Sato and Chilton were not good drivers?

Anyone who thinks the Indy 500 is easy should do an Alonso and give it a go.

Not many in F1 would put their legacy on the line and give it a go.

The reason the older drivers can still race is due to the less G Forces.

But travelling at 230 mph however fit you are takes huge bouncy balls.

Totally different to F1.

Lewis will only do Indy if he's in the best car. No value in breaking his tried and tested strategy in F1

There's one chassis and 2 engines. Makes it difficult to build a car as dominant as the Mercedes F1 car has been.
