F1 drivers are contractors rather then employees aren't they? What he invoice Mercedes for and what he earns are probably very different. I'd imagine he writes a fair bit off for jet fuel. wink
His travelling mechanics should do the same tax trick as Hamilton.

If they are contractors, they probably do

Facts don't matter when it comes to Lewis. Minds are made up and those that don't like him will buy into anything they think back up the reasons they don't... he's brash, moody, arrogant, hates to lose, bhes and moans and some don't like it. It's not the British way. I like it. Top line competive aren't happy to lose. I like to see some passion and personality. Kimi is great in his own way but jeez is he poor value on camera.
All this tax stuff re Lewis. Really! He's following a well trodden path and somehow he's the bad guy where Jenson gets no heat for it.
If I were in his position I'd probably do the same and I'd bet a good few here would do the same once they were seeing things from a multimillionaire perspective.
Why people get so worked up about what he does, where he lives, who he hangs out with and even how he speaks is unbelievable. Intriguing....

Indeed. Paula Radcliife, who I'm a big fan of, a millionaire living in Monaco, still received lottery funding for her training. I'm sure she could have declined that so that it could be spent on people who needed it more. Would we do the same as her if we were in the same position? As had been said, it's not like Lewis is the only person doing this.

Yep as I said earlier no one bangs on about anyone else on the grid interms of where they live and fictional tax questions. It's only Lewis. Vettel can be exactly as upperty and strop angry as Lewis yet he escapes censure......I have a theory why but hey.

To be fair, last year Rosberg's residence and tax status was brought up once or twice.

^^^ My god, how much work have they all had (not Lewis), the 3 of them all look like they are all going for the roll of the joker in Batman.

crikey, you over-sensitive guardian-angel-types really don't get it. hehe

No-one hates Lewis. In the car - a driving god. Out of the car - an utter berk. Folks just like to laugh at him when he does and says daft stuff. hehe

Lighten up, chum.

The only motivation for becoming based in Monaco is to minimise his tax contribution to Britain.
Really? Yes there are any number of nice places to set up (and Lewis seems to spend most of his free downtime in Colorado anyway), but I imagine for the super-rich being based in a place full of other super-rich and all the benefits and practicalities that brings make it quite an enticing and safe prospect regardless of the tax side of things.

Airport up the road with private jets on tap, loads of companies and services tailored to the ultra-wealthy literally on the doorstep, basically an entire city geared up to tolerate and take care of very rich people.
