Do you know what ? Love or hate him, it doesn't matter. Because what you are seeing now is a really fking good driver
Haters will always argue otherwise. But right now, only a total lobotomised ignoramus would still argue against. Hamilton went into detail, almost to the point of anal retentivity, about wind direction, changing diff to suit. And this is supposed to be someone only knows how to race and doesn't get the technical side?!

Where he is at the moment is a different dimension. 'Good' doesn't quite do it justice.

I can't believe max signed up for 2 more years with red bull. He's got a wdc in him.
Perhaps Red Bull had a 2 year option on him...... and Hamilton and Vettel didn't want him.

Bottas not really making a mark which is a shame. Mercedes will know that next year; they need 1, 2's - allowing Vettel to split the Merc's week in week out isn't good enough.
I'm not so sure. If Hamilton had a stronger team mate this year it's very likely that he would not be a lock-in for the championship now as he'd have lost points to that team mate.

Merc have won the team championship anyway and if there's going to be a strong challenge from other teams next year they need a No1 driver, not two equally strong ones that could ensure that neither wins the drivers title.

I think it's tough for Bottas, he was closer to LH earlier in the season but he really has turned it up a notch, he is a very special talent. I have to reach for the mute button when he's interviewed though and I can't stand the way he steals the limelight when his fellow drivers are being interviewed, a flawed character but a great driver.

Which great driver wasn't flawed? Not many I think.

Class clown?

Always has time for fans, loves to entertain and can drive better than you or me a 1000%

Would you prefer a muted, restrained corporate driver or a lying bizarre driver like Vettel

Yeah, either that or he's genuinely excited by winning a GP and closing in on his 4th WDC after having his adrenaline pumping for two hours solid.

Perhaps he should be more like Kimi? but then if he acted like Kimi he would be a miserable tt wouldn't he.

It's been mentioned multiple times but we should be enjoying Hamilton for as long as he is in the sport. How many British sports personalities do we have that are multiple world champions in their respective sport? And from those, how many of them have not had some kind of PR disaster?

Yeah i understand Hamiltons off track antics are not to everyones taste but he isn't harming anyone and he's one of our greatest sports personalities ever.

Not at the time between helmet off and cap going on he is so paranoid about his hair transplant he goes from hiding shy schoolboy to “hey how you all doing” once the cap is on.

Watched the GP yesterday as it was on later and it was either that or X Factor.

Hamilton was on another level. Very impressive.

Vettel showed poor race craft against Hamilton. To not cover him and allow Hamilton the room up the inside was basic stuff. But Hamilton took it like candy from a baby.

The performance of Bottas is very poor. Clearly the Mercedes was very fast but Bottas just continues to struggle. He should be 2nd without an issue.

Verstappen again was impressive. He was right to be penalised for the overtake but seeing him making these moves just shows how good he is.

Real shame about Ricciardo. He was looking very good until the car went pop.

Other impressive drives from Ocon, Sainz and Hartley did fine in his first GP.

What was quite strange was why Mercedes and Hamilton allowed Vettel to just about get them after the pitstops. Yes Hamilton stated things were great with the tyres but the team should have told him to pit. Could have been very costly especially if Ricciardo had not blown up.

Hamilton clearly is in the zone and the confidence is very high. When he is in this sort of mind frame he is impressive.

Shame the Championship could not be closer going into the last few races but clearly Hamilton deserves it.

Is Grosjean going to bring up Hamilton loosening his belts during next drivers' briefing and will Charlie/race stewards do something to penalise him for braking the rules again? We don't want anyone break the rules, do we. Especially safety related.

If you feel so strongly perhaps you should write a letter?

Charlie was very non-committal about Hamilton undoing his belts and gave the impression that he was turning a blind eye to it, he even said at one point "at the kind of speeds you're doing lewis..." (referring obviously to Lewis' tendency to parade all the outlying areas in front of the grandstand at about 20mph if he's had a good race).

Hang on honey, Grosjean's concern was based on recent accident between Vettel and Stroll which sent Vettel flying. It's a justfifed concern, don't you think babe?

Doesn't change the fact that it's a justified concern, does it.

I think the sport just needs to accept that, coming from a historical background of middle-class white guys who have posh-totty girlfriends and do middle-class weekend things, Hamilton's personality is going to grate on the average F1 fan.

I don't particularly associate with his off-circuit personality/behaviour, but that doesn't preclude me from thinking he's an incredible asset to the sport. If the choice were between that and Kimi (a miserable mute who hasn't won a race since 2013), I know who I would choose...

Darling, Charlie Whiting seemed indifferent although obliged to tow the 'safety' line. All other drivers have managed to successfully negotiate the cooling off lap without having a massive accident and there are still question marks over how and why Vettel came to collide with Stroll.

The same Vettel, by the way, who has been known to deliberately stop his perfectly functional car on the start / finish straight, on one occasion getting out and kneeling before it as if worshipping it, and on numerous other occasions doing doughnuts and all manner of other technically naughty manoeuvres. You didn't setup a new Pistonheads account to complain about that did you sweetheart?

We try to have a bit of fun with this sport, discretion is welcome within reason, I like to see drivers engaging with fans.
