Firstly apologies for this thread going off on a bit of a tangent! I have a thread running on the story and how we get on - using it as a bit of a therapeutic blog! The support has been outstanding, from family, friends and more amazingly strangers. We are raising cash too, as the support network is just phenomenal.
Perspective is always welcome I think. when all this kicked off, our "bubble" was mental - but exposed to that environment we soon realised we in afar better position than many others, such as the story above.

I enjoy the banter here more than ever - able to zone out and retain some form of sanity!

smile

Anyway, where were we? Lewis?

Indeed. He is a great; but it seems many teams won’t touch him with a barge pole. You have to be more than great on track to be successful in F1.

Having said that; everyone knows Alonso is out of this world; which makes Hamilton’s rookie year all the more remarkable!!!

Put Alonso in Vettel's Ferrari last year and he would have won the Championship.

Unfortunately for Alonso Ferrari was another bridge burned.

No1 status (or massive strop, blackmail etc) haven’t hurt Alonso’s stats either.

You can’t say he would have done; you can say he might have... and indeed; he might have. Probably would have been a closer run title race I’d agree.

But as you say; another bridge burnt... he’s a great driver but doesn’t have the full package. F1 legends tend to be more than just great on track.

Ferrari threw at least one away with their customary suicidal strategy calls (think Chris Dyer got sacked for that one), but more recently trouble is, there's been a guy, who almost managed to beat N Rosberg most of the time, who's been cruising round (can you really call that racing?) in a second-a-lap faster car for the last 4 years hehe

I am assuming you may be just trying to troll there? If not you come over as not really understanding F1 at all well.

Hence his name wink

But the chap he refers to; trundling around in a dominant car, beat Alonso in his rookie year. What does that say for his theory hehe

He last won a title 12years ago.

I know the media hype but I think Vettel has the edge on him somewhat...

...and Rosberg couldn't get past Hamilton in Abu Dhabi 2016 even though Hamilton was deliberately driving slowly.

Just goes to show how st the Abu Dhabi circuit is more than anything, unless we're going to conclude that Alonso, Hamilton and Rosberg really aren't that good.
