Put Alonso in Vettel's Ferrari last year and he would have won the Championship.
Unfortunately for Alonso Ferrari was another bridge burned.
He last won a title 12years ago. Unfortunately for Alonso Ferrari was another bridge burned.
I know the media hype but I think Vettel has the edge on him somewhat...

There are some eccentrics still making the case that because Button scored more points in total than Hamilton over three seasons, that makes Button the better driver. Clearly those people were not actually watching the races in those years!
What we know is Hamilton beat Alonso in his rookie year by the narrowest of margins. (Countback). What would happen now? Well, we don't know. Both are brilliant drivers, truly all-time greats. I only wish we could see them again in the same team.

Alonso himself has said that he was stunned by the rookie. But even when Alonso says it; you can't accept it. It's called denial

You can clutch as straws all you like... there's this other measure by which to judge the drivers; it's the championship itself. And Hamilton beat Alonso. You'' come to terms with this fact one day; perhaps in the distant future

Just quoting an interesting article, chum. No need to soil your drawers Alonso himself has said that he was stunned by the rookie. But even when Alonso says it; you can't accept it. It's called denial
I agree with the above post which correctly points out that if you're to discuss Alonso, Hamilton, Button etc you are dealing with amazing drivers of exceptional talent, each of them superb in every way- and when you suggest that one is better than another in any particular facet of the craft that does not mean that the other is in any way lacking in that area.
I wouldn't like to call Hamilton vs. Alonso 2007. I think on driving talent alone I'd have to give Alonso the nod for that season as I believe intra-team politics probably weren't favourable for Nando for much of the season. There are caveats with that though- We're comparing Alonso at (or close to) his peak with rookie Lewis, and the political situation was probably largely Alonso's making.
These days, if you are to assume that Hamilton's similarly talented to Alonso, you'd have to pick Hamilton wouldn't you? He's Alonso talent but with reduced sugar and salt.

At the elite level its mostly subjective. Button fans think he is/was the best. Same for Hammy fans, and Fred fans, and Vettel fans. It will be thus for Max and Danny fans in a couple of years, I'm sure. What we know is Hamilton beat Alonso in his rookie year by the narrowest of margins. (Countback). What would happen now? This pretty much sums it up for me.this is why I don’t post much. Occasionally I totally agree with someone else and have a quiet nod in agreement I wouldn't like to call Hamilton vs. Alonso 2007. Mark Priestly, a senior mechanic at the time, wouldn't agree with you. He gives the most definite impression in his recent book that the McL mechanics were delighted when Kimi beat both their drivers to the WDC after the way they both dragged McL down.mattyn1 said:

The strange thing is, considering the illness, putting lives on hold for 12 months, the invasive treatment, pain, etc, it is the hair loss that affects him the most.

& yep, had exactly the same here ...but tell him, that yes it does indeed grow back- might look like a fuzzy peach for a bit, mind
& echo what's been said above by others & all the best to you & your lad

As a show of support, when this first kicked off I said I would have mine shaved too, to be united with him against this, to show he is not alone! This is now planned for next Thursday - and all of a sudden does not seem like such a good idea! I need a woolly hat!!

haven't read the book to comment ...so will reserve judgment till then
