We're not far now to ask the question, "is Lewis Hamilton the greatest f1 driver of all time"?.

I truly believe he is. A talent we will never witness again.
How naive. He's the best driver in the best car. You can get all teary eyed and wk into your Hamilton branded socks but the guy is a complete douche with an attitude that stinks. His meltdown (the one yesterday, there have been many) came after signing a new £40M/year contract to drive the fastest car on the grid - gratitude and maturity escape him, especially when he doesn't get what he wants.

The ridiculous thing is that I was once a complete Hamilton fan and hated Alonso. Having ignored the British press (Brundle and Coulthard can also do one) and seen Alonso's attempts in different disciplines, this view has completely switched around (Fernando has matured whilst Lewis has gone backwards).

Alonso is perhaps the most complete driver we've ever seen, his results in the McLaren outshine any easy Mercedes win. His dedication to racing is total, just look at what Alonso has been doing during his weekends off (teaching rising stars at his cart track, Indycar, Le Mans etc) and then look at Hamilton, hanging out with the Kardashians whilst dressed like a dhead. Lewis's craft can be compared to that of Heinz-Harald Frentzen, the difference between the two being one got Eddie Jordan, the other Toto...

DIffernce being Clark didn’t deliberately drive his opponents off the track to win.
I always wonder how many people actually saw Clark drive given how king ago he died.
I did. First race I saw him was the British GP in 66. Two year later he was dead

It’s really fortunate for Hamilton that he had his prayer this morning otherwise god would not have let him win.

Wow. It must be horrid carrying around all of that baggage!

Get a track greasy; add some random events and pressure; and there’s no better driver. As Vettel proved today.

My baggage has been checked thanks!

Throw all the drivers in the same car and see who 'rises' then. Hamilton is enjoying an enviable position, nothing more. I'm off to lick my Hülkenberg poster.

You’re new to to this motorsport thing aren’t you!? Hamilton has earned his position; go spend an hour looking at his lower formulae races and then see how you feel. Same car / level playing field; Hamilton would wipe the floor with the lot of them. Best car? It was; not so any more. Vettel was leading today’s race in the best car; comfortably, but binned it.

What's happening with the stewards appeal?

Hamilton didn't gain an advantage from the move but if it's followed to the letter he'll get 5secs+ added onto his time.

I think he's a great driver, probably the best on be grid. But he's nowhere near the best ever. JC probably holds that accolade, followed closely by Schumacher and Senna.
I would put Hamilton above Schumacher and level with senna, personally. Both Schumacher and Hamilton have won championships in arguably not the fastest car. but compared to Schumacher, Hamilton has actually had and raced against competitive team mates. Schumacher was never paired with a world champion. Hamilton has beaten three.

I think Clark and Hamilton both have/had that ability to put in peerless drives, the ones where they achieve things you didn’t think possible. Clark at Monza in 1967, from a lap down and last to 2nd place, Hamilton at Silverstone 2008, where at times he was 8 seconds a lap quicker than anyone else (unheard of in modern f1). Or Istanbul in 2007 in GP2. I think schumacher had fewer of those races.

Schumacher had it his own way and firmly number one status.

If the same applies to Lewis he would have had 6 titles (Kimis..and the blonde fellas).

Remember he got that from his early performances though. It's a bit like people saying Hamilton is only winning due to having the best car now. Both got the best car by their early performances.

Agree 100%.
All the above have finished their careers. Lewis hasn’t yet so we probably needs to wait until he Hangs up bid helmet to have that discussion and make it a fair one.

I think he’s already achieved enough to be up there with the best of the best.

I can admire his driving skills, but out of the car he's cringe-worthy.

given that he's a racing driver is that relevant to his ability as a racing driver?

It's like saying 'I'd vote for teresa may, but she's not very good at table tennis is she?'
